About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Start everything over :)
ABOUT ME
To make it quick, just a few words that describe main sides of my personality:
- Musical person: playing my bass and listening to music is essential to me
- Caring friend: optimistic about human nature and concerned about people around me
- Social butterfly: always wanting to get along with different people
- Knowledge sponge: always curious, and rather knowledgable in various fields, esp. technical ones (what I've studied and will work on)
- Biker: all-year rider, rather on small roads ; especially friendly toward fellow bikers. More into the 'ride safe' (eg full protective equipment, ...) side of things.
- Stubborn: "yeah, that may sound stupid or crazy, but *this* is what I want to do, so I'll go for it"
PHILOSOPHY
Doing things positively/optimistically may encourage others to act similarly. Do so yourself whenever possible.
http://xkcd.com/150/ : I'm not against society, but I have my very own plans for it (which do not incluce playpen balls, tho ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I used to host on a regular basis, although I prefer quality over quantity. At the moment I'm way too busy at work to be on 'yes, definitely' as I used to. Plus, I recently moved in and I havent discussed the topic of hosting with my new housemates.That will not last for a long time, hopefully.
I haven't had as many occasions to surf couches as I wish, but things may be different in a near future :)
I try to attend CS events as much as possible to meet fellow local CSers and travelers, and improve my local community.
Please note that if my reply rate isn't 100% is because some people were in a hurry and left phone numbers. I *do* read my messages and answer to relevant requests !
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
* As a guest:
I went to the US in june 2008 and met some nice CS people there. Thanks again, folks !
My current CS related goal is to visit *your* couch !!! Would you invite me ?
Beware, I've decided to travel at least once a month in a different place this year. It might be your home ? I'm thinking about bigger trips, too, like a huge north/east europe bike tour (more than 6000km) ; I still have to plan that one, tho.
That should help me balance my guest/host experience count :)
* As an host:
I've got quite a lot of guest since I've signed up here, and have great memories from these experiences.
I'm a member of the HC too and hosted several people from there already.
All-in-all, (HC+CS) I'd say I've hosted 30+ times, up to 4 people at a time, and enjoyed it :)
Not everyone leaves a reference, mostly because many of my guests were last minute requests/in a hurry/travelling, and possibly forgot about leaving a reference when they got back home. Can't really blame them tho (I don't even remember all their usernames ;)
* At meetings/events
I try to go to local meetings whenever I can to meet fellow locals and also the occasional surfers/travelers.
CS isnt just about (free) hosting in my opinion ! It's a great way to meet random people that you know already have something interesting in common (-> what it takes to be on CS)
Interests
Music: I play the bass and doublebass. Currently looking for a new band !
Motorcycle: I love it !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
#Getting an occasion to work on a project (an electric car: www.lumeneo.fr) that's important to me (yeah, I'm talking 'bout my job ; boring, isnt it ? :)
#Deciding with an old friend to start over a new band and play live about one month later, mostly newly composed material (which we're both really proud of) ; it's great to achieve good communication while playing music :)
#Wandering on my motorcycle, in my own city and around it, discovering new places and see others in a new way. Riding over 5000km in about one month doing so.
#Road trip from LA to SF along the coast in a nice convertible car ;)
#Numerous gigs and shows experiences. Too many to tell :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Beware, as I said, I am a knowledge sponge !
# Cooking: I like cooking and tasting new meals. I'd be pleased to learn or teach some cooking tricks :)
# Music: I'm a musician, but... not a pro, really. I know there are a lot of fantastic bands I've never heard of, in what you may help me. I have some stuff to share there ;) I'd love to learn to sing, too !
# Motorcycling: I'd love to improve my mechanicals and driving skills, and am interested in discovering this area which is quite new to me. I'm up for trips around Paris of much further, too.
# Languages: I like foreign languages, and would love to learn japanese for example (other languages are welcome, too :) I am eager to get some practice in german and english, BTW.
# Science and Technology: I'm quite into that stuff, as I love to know how things work. If you are curious enough, just ask me to share what I know in that area.
