PHILOSOPHY
I yam what I yam.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I humbly share my abode with weary travelers.
And hopefully they do the same but in reverse.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have both surfed and hosted many a time (more hosting as of late...)
Most of it has rocked, but I have had two negative experiences (once surfing and once hosting) with men treating couchsurfing as a dating service. Both "gentlemen" have since deleted their profiles which maybe possibly might show who was at fault, eh? EH?
Interests
Eating nuts and berries (much as a small, active rodent might), harvesting, creating fine jams and jellies, nodding my head in approval and occasionally clapping my hands.
But seriously folks,
I am an art student- I make comics and I enjoy printmaking. I collect odd things under the guise of making some ART from them one day... I love reading, but it seems like I read WAY more books when I was ten. Unless comic books count, then I totally beat my ten-year-old self. I LOVE short stories and Russian authors from the turn of the century- if those two criteria combine, then I am excessively pleased. I shop at thrift stores because I'm poor AND eco-savvy. I am madly in love with vintage dresses, but they are not madly in love with me. I have about ten vegetarian cookbooks that I take out once a month, solely to gaze at the pictures. I would marry Groucho Marx if that was in any way possible. And I love the old cartoons where all the animals and trees just dance for five minutes.
I'm interested in a myriad of things, really. The word "myriad" being one of them.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Michel Gondry (The Science of Sleep, anyone?).
Also getting into François Truffaut.
Old Blues music- Son House, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Mississippi John hurt, etc.
Something about the raw, honest sorrow these fellows offer is so compelling...
Delving into Plato, by which I mean I have read the introduction to The Last Days of Socrates and nothing else.
And I must admit, (a bit shamefacedly), I am fully engrossed with Martha Stewart Living. Who else could find seventeen uses for baby food jars?!?
And as for comics, R. Crumb and Linda Barry are my gods.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I heard pious dogs howling to the prayer call in jordan, at the five in the morning.
Also, learning how to operate a dishwasher was pretty damn amazing.
But, I've promptly forgotten.
Teach, Learn, Share
The power of the parenthesis is greatly underestimated.
Aside from dissecting your grammar, I can teach you how to knit, sew, and make comix!
