ABOUT ME

Impossible to write 'all about you' but here are some things....

I am a 'young mature'. I can be both jovial and serious at the same time. My travels have instilled sunshine and warmth to hold back any jaded and bitterness that life may bring. My brother thinks that I don't take life seriously. However, I seriously do take it seriously - by not doing so. Oh, and by having a keen, well-honed in sense of adventure!

I went on the road for 3 years, and so I love discussing travelling, life-long dreams, hobbies etc. Couch surfing is quite a wild way to meet different people, as well as like-minded. Want to know more?

Story goes that I quit my dull office job (dealing with divorced couples - one or 2 stories there!) to hit the road.

Before my 'gap year', I had planned to embark on studying and teaching social sciences afterwards. However, I ended up falling 'into the gap' for 3 years! And so I now prefer the outdoors far too much to work indoors all the time.

I am now doing a complete u-turn as I am -full steam ahead- going for an outdoor career e.g. Park Ranger, Conservation Officer etc.

PHILOSOPHY

I beleive that travelling can be a good way to open one's mind.

Oh, and someone once said to me 'keep on givin' it some giver! - right on!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mention this site to those that I think would benefit from building a better world one couch at a time (as they say here).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I heard about this site through one of the backpacker magazines. Now that I've had a few couchsurfing experiences, I will try to steer away from hostels to save money.

For the 4 months I travelled Canada, I only paid for 7 nights in a hostel (along with the odd night under the stars - or in other words roughin' it). I even stayed in a beautiful B&B for a week - all free!

Interessi

Meeting people with different ways of life (thanks to this site) as well as liked-minded/similar folk. Seeing as many places of natural beauty as possible and so hiking is one of the great ways to do this. Others include; cycling, swimming, running, adrenalin activities, WWOOFing (Worldwide Working on Organic Farms). And, of course, being social and livin' it up just like any other twenty-something.

Musica, film e libri

New Zealand acts; Gramsci, The Feelers, Dave Dobbyn (Rock), Black Seeds (Reggae), Che-Fu (Hip-Hop). Canadian acts; City & Colour and Nickelback. I also like Jack Johnson, Jon B (RnB), Brand New Heavies (Acid-Jazz), U2, and Keane (Rock) and some dance and chill-out sounds. I also like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Star Trek. Nature and wildlife programmes also float my boat as well.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Couchsurfing, hiking and hitch-hiking in New Zealand and Canada are some of the best things I've ever done. I experienced the thrills of bungy jumping, sky diving, aerobatics in an airplane and zorbing etc. Also done a spot of scuba-diving. I even gazed into a Black Bear's eyes not too far away. Just generally though, most of the people I've hooked up on the road have just made good places that more incredible and sexier.
