About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Not only to see the world thru my eyes...but the eyes of the people I meet along the way
ABOUT ME
Australian, country born & bred.
2 children & 2 grandsons (Spencer born 2006 & Fletcher born 2008) & Sophie (born 20th Dec 2010)to my daughter & now my son has a son (Carter born 13th Feb 2011)
Have travelled to over 100 countries.
Love the rawness of the African countries visited, the smells of the real Asia, the smiles of the people in Peru & Bolivia.
Have just attended my close friend's (and hermit)100th birthday in a remote area of Cape York in far north Queensland & for a hermit he had 34 other hermits from areas over 1000 miles away! Such a gathering of hermits must be a world record! If your wondering how this was arranged when not one of these men (all over 70 years of age to mid 90's) has a phone or an address I can tell you it is the most interesting set of circumstances I have ever encountered.
PHILOSOPHY
Live & let live.
As we all share the one planet maybe its time to start looking after it & sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I started by hosting single travellers.Open age, male or female. I have enjoyed the interaction with travellers from many countries & it seems a most rewarding way to stay connected to my fellow human beings. It also helps me stay young in the mind.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Stayed with village people in Africa Asia & South America.
Camped with Australian Aboriginals in remote locations
Interests
Words...be they written by a great author or spoken by a shepherd on the hills of Sicily.
To listen is to learn.
To watch is to excite
To do is to experience
I look at the ruins of great cities from the past & I can transport myself to enhance the feeling.
I watch people from my table as I sit in the coffee house & play the game of "I wonder"...Who, What, Where...it is a marvelous pasttime. One I can do anywhere in the world with the barriers of language or culture.
I am writing short stories of these & other of my experiences & plan to publish late 2010 after I have completed my next major project which is to complete the last of the great train journeys.
1 Trans Siberian May 2012
2 across North America from New York to san Francisco then up to Vancouver & across Canada to Toronto down to new York June 2012

Music, Movies, and Books
Love movies...to be entertained.
Books are a source of information as well as pleasure to be enjoyed.
Music feeds the man I have become.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
circumnavigated Australia in small boat
Started a "Peace Project" in Australia that will cover the world...or at least 214 countries.
Now working a aproject to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the ANZAC DAY landings at Gallipoli in 1915..what a misadventure that was but so importnat to the Australian way of life. If you asked me to explain I will search for words! Now Im travelling to Europe & Russia to visit the graves of men who were awarded the Victoria Cross...a pilgrimage for me as I wish to visit the final resting place of some of my family from the war in 1914-1918...which tore Europe apart & killed millions.
Teach, Learn, Share
