Music, Movies, and Books
Love all kinds of movies, music and books. From art house auteur cinema to very fluffy television series, from country to classical to jazz to contemporary minimalist music and folk. Mostly poetry and literary novels but love reading in general about all sorts of subjects.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting shot in the shoulder by a stray bullet in Montréal. Getting hit by a double-decker bus in the same shoulder one year later in London. Getting a ride to the airport in Nice from a wonderfully weird Italian who started playing along to Nina Simone on a didgeridoo while driving. Ending up naked in the middle of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam after a sports massage when the therapist forgot about me and locked my clothes in another room. Mexico's Sierra Madre Occidental was amazing. Playing the Montreal Jazz Festival and getting there just in time after flying back from my kid brother's wedding was pretty cool. Meeting Allen Ginsberg at a Buddhist party surrounded by pogoing monks in Halifax, Nova-Scotia. Meeting Jeff Buckley and having him mistake me for a long-lost childhood friend. Meeting Boubacar Traoré and having him take me into his arms and blessing me with his sweet, grandfatherly presence. Meeting the love of my life and marrying her in a ceremony filled with poetry and perfect music.
