About Me

We are a 30-something married couple. We JUST moved to Asheville and JUST purchased some land with some buildings on it. Our ultimate goal is to create a campground with a Jiu-Jitsu gym on the premises. We have a long ways to go, but are looking forward to continuing our involvement in the CS community here in Asheville!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Originally we got into CSing back in 2007 for "a free place to stay", but it's grown to being a lot more than that for us, especially considering we've hosted well over 100 people and only surfed with about a dozen people.

When we travel it's nice to surf with other people when we have time to hang out. We don't typically go to CS events/meetings unless our hosts/guests are into them, but... we love to bring surfers along to our clubs/groups that we're into.

Interests

Hashing --http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers Traveling and eating. Making friends. We're also interested in starting our own business. We've discovered over the years that we hate working for people and having incompetent bosses. Now we're finally on our way!

Robert- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, cannabis, weight lifting, useless trivia, my car, the beach. Eastern European issues. Cauliflower ear. I also like Sociology and History. I like learning about people and stuff.

Amanda- animals, horseback riding, excel sheets, friendly people. Cleaning (she's really not as lame as she sounds). She likes helping out and talking as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: When you come to our house, we will only have "Soulja Boy the Movie" playing on loop. We love him. That is the only movie that is allowed to be played on our computer, which doubles as our TV. If you were wondering, the answer is no, you may not check your email/CS account because Soulja Boy is on.

Music: We will only be listing to elevator music, Celine Dion and elevator music versions of Celine Dion when you come here. Over, and over again.

Books: Amanda- sappy puppy books and other books that are crappy according to Robert. Robert- dry emotionless text books.

Honestly though, we're not that picky on any of these subjects.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We broke through the post-communist bureaucracy on our own and got married in Romania... Why is this box so big?

Teach, Learn, Share

We know lots about how to drınk like the Russians, sleep like a European and bathe like a Frenchman. Kidding (of course). I'm sure the French have excellent personal hygiene. On a slightly more serious note, we can both teach you some basic Romanian, or basic to advanced English. Amanda can teach you how to pimp your Excel sheets. Robert can teach you jiu-jitsu and wrestling, or how to create a workout plan for all ages, abilities and lifestyles.

We love to learn stuff; anything interesting at least.

Share? Hmm... if we're cooking something you're welcome to eat it with us. You're also welcome to cook something for us too. You can even use our stove! Essentially, "mi casa es su casa" when we host, and we try to make ourselves useful somehow when we surf.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When we surf, we are totally down for whatever our host has going on. If you host us, rest assured we have thoroughly reviewed your profile and are ready to be good guests. We're completely comfortable being totally independent and doing our own thing or conversely we're usually good company and don't mind hanging out with our hosts all day long.

Robert can cook and can make food for hosts. Amanda can clean extremely well so we make a good team in this regard.

Anything else you need/want just ask.
