CURRENT MISSION

Hi, I am riding the GDMBR, all the way to the US/ Mexico border and then back home to Houston. I am a 35-year-old male who is full of a sense of adventure. I have a trip from Olympia to SF under my belt and am looking to finish the trip down to the south where I am originally from.

ABOUT ME

I am an Open Floor dance teacher but am unable to teach currently due to Covid-19 so I decided to hit the trails on my bike. I have been riding my bike down adventure cycles Great Divide Mountain Bike Rout since the beginning of September, starting in Whitefish Montana and breaking off from it in Salida Colorado to about some weather and to have a more direct route to West Texas. I would love to make it to Marfa TX , Big Bend and then eventually Houston TX which is currently home. I want to challenge my own edges and boundaries, try new and sometimes scary things and take advantage of being alive while I have the time and energy to do so.

PHILOSOPHY

Live simply, free from conventional expectations, expose myself to a wide variety of experiences and interactions through multiple interactions with diverse people and enjoy learning from interesting people. i try to stay present in the moment and live life with intention.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since June 2007, I have participated in Couch Surfing under the families’ profile of Goglobal. In August 2007, I joined Couch Surfing when I was preparing to travel in Mexico right after a Category 5 hurricane hit the area. Through Couch Surfing I was able to get accurate information about conditions and adjust my travel plans. My housing situation did not allow me to host so instead I assisted Goglobal with visiting Couch Surfers. Recently, I Couch Surfed with an amazing woman in the Big Bend area of Texas. Now I am living in Olympia Washington and attending The Evergreen State College. I am working on establishing a suitable place for couchsurfers to stay. I have yet to find this space but am working on it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Everyone of my Couch Surfing experience has been positive. I recently traveled in West Texas with my mother and sister and we CSed with an amazing lady named Cynta. The ghost town she lived in was really small but there was so much to it and she was so generous to share it with us. Cynta shared what she has received in the small town of 29 people and I understood and appreciated why she chose to make it her home. I would have just passed through and though it was a beautiful place but because of Couch Surfing I got to experience the place in a much deeper manner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Burning Man 10 years total, SXSW 5 years, Rode my bike from Olympia WA to The Bay Area in 2013, 5Rhythms Workshops, the Hoh Rainforest in the , Dancing with different people from around the world, exploring Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, music in an anthropological way; getting into the history, and seeing the beauty of humanity through the grass roots response to Hurricane Katrina.
