About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We want to 'be the change we wish to see in the world' (M.K. Gandhi)

ABOUT ME

Joe is a sculptor and loves to dance, play ultimate Frisbee, cook, travel and meet new people. Shlomit is a former reporter and current college student who loves to sing, dance, cook, and enjoy life.

Rosie purrs a great deal and sheds a bit.

For now, Joe is traveling in the southeastern US with his boat, a Core Sound 17 named "Morning Sun" while Shlomit studies human ecology and narrative screenwriting at College of the Atlantic.

PHILOSOPHY

Under constant re-definition

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Shlomit is a former political activist (I've been cured) who still pays attention.

Joe doesn't want to blow his own horn.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Joe informally couch surfed while hitchhiking in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. Shlomit belonged to Servas, a pre-digital version, and was hosted in New Zealand and Great Britain.

We have been hosting through CouchSurfing.org since the summer of 2009, have surfed in Vermont and New York State, and in April 2010 hosted a potluck supper for CouchSurfers.

For now, Joe hopes to surf along his travels. Shlomit can provide an occasional couch.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Visitor, The Station Agent, Oh Brother - Where Art Thou. Any Barbara Kingsolver. The Lacuna is a masterpiece. Joe loves true sailing adventures and convinced Shlomit to listen to the Patrick O'Brian Aubrey-Maturin series which she now does while driving to and from work. Music: Yes!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day I wake up on a mostly hospitable planet with sweet smelling air, potable water, fresh growing things, amazing creatures. I think life itself is pretty amazing.
