About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find/make more time to explore more of the world, be it far off places or my own backyard

ABOUT ME

I am terrible at describing myself on the internets, but here goes nothing....

I am a physics graduate student studying neutrinos. I am passionate about (almost) everything I do and I enjoy the company of other people who love life. I'm pretty independent and enjoy traveling alone because I find it easier to meet locals and experience a place (and time) when you're completely out of your own element.

PHILOSOPHY

Wow, I'm not really sure. I guess that I would say something simple like, treat others the way you want to be treated. Oh, and don't judge other people's actions based on what would have been your intentions in doing the same thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been away for a while being both too busy to think about anything other than nuclear physics. We'll see if round 2 shows me in better form.

I've enjoyed a couple of trips in Europe couchsurfing. I am poor and have lived in a single room for the last three years making it difficult to host but I'm excited to start hosting when I live in a place with more than one room this fall.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I actually spent a week couchsurfing in my old hometown of Seattle while I was still living in Switzerland but visiting for Christmas break. It was fun to couchsurf in a town I know so well and get to spend time in different neighborhoods.

I've stayed with couchsurfers in four countries (all European so far) and I'm looking forward to meeting more awesome people.

Interests

Art & art history, food, music, hiking, science, knitting, traveling,

Lately I've been getting really into salsa dancing (on 2, none of this west coast bs!). I have also recently rediscovered my love of hiking and camping.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Casablanca, Pulp Fiction, Lawrence of Arabia, Run Lola Run, Climates, Singles and other completely random things

Music: U2, Modest Mouse, Elliott Smith, the Dandy Warhols, Neko Case, Sera Cahoone, Death Cab, MGMT, Menomena, the Decemberists, Phoenix, and so much more...including the opera, which I adore.

Books:Jorge Luis Borges, John Steinbeck, Wallace Stegner, Cormac McCarthy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked on a huge, new particle detector 100m below ground at CERN, where I was one of only a handful of women involved in construction.

Teach, Learn, Share

I usually end up talking to people about science which can be a lot of fun and really informative (for me, I can't speak for them!).

I am also a passionate knitter and enjoy sharing that with others.
