ABOUT ME

I always find this kind of self-description really daunting! I think the most prominent feature of my personality is curiosity, followed by an aversion for overly reducing complexity. I enjoy meeting people and learning things and going places--typical CouchSurfer, right?

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing formal. I'm really interested in the interdependence of life and I don't believe in fate; I think we make the world as we live, which I try to experience as extreme freedom and extreme responsibility at the same time.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just want to try to be a good comrade in the amazing collective that is couchsurfing, which I actually think has the potential to be an antidote and model for other antidotes to a lot of what has gone wrong socially in recent years, and/or been inflicted on the planet and its sentient lifeforms by transnational corporations.

Intereses

In no particular order: literary fiction, art, healing arts, music, film, "sustainable living," languages, dance, grassroots activism for social, environmental & economic justice, herbalism, foraging, wildcrafting, lots of things that usually get lumped into a general topic that's not thought of as particularly rigorous but to which I bring rigorous study & skepticism, such as shamanism, meditation, and energy work

Of easily-quantifiable soundbyte type things, the first thing that comes to mind is climbing the pyramids at Teotihuacan and having a whirlwind--a manifestation of Quetzalcoatl upon whose temple we stood--race up the grand plaza and whip right over and through us; later that week, climbing to the monarch butterfly winter sanctuary in Michoacan and hearing the whispering sound of millions of gossamer wings flapping in the rarefied air of 11,000 ft altitude. I've seen a baby be born, I've almost fallen to my death but didn't, oh! I just noticed this only said 1 thing!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I apprenticed with a wisewoman herbalist and have knowledge & experience working with wild plants for healing, nutrition and spiritual practice (indigenous North American shamanism). I was a licensed massage therapist in the state of NY and reiki master, and am glad to teach about simple self-care for self & community. I would love to exchange language practice.
