About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live well.
ABOUT ME
I recently moved back to Texas after spending an amazing year living abroad in Holland. I like to travel, I love to learn and to throw myself into new things. In my spare time I write music and perform (I've been teaching myself guitar, I play piano and I'd still like to learn harmonica and ukulele)...I always have a book on hand for a lull in the day.
PHILOSOPHY
"I do not want to die...until I have cultivated the seed that was placed in me, until the last twig has grown." -Kathe Kollwitz
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I spread the word (or perhaps a better word is "gospel") to other travelers and friends.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I took my first couchsurfing trip to Cologne, Germany last December for just a weekend getaway---it was a great experience!

Music, Movies, and Books
The only film I've seen the last six months was "Atonement," which was really beautiful. I like seeing new and interesting things---I enjoy foreign flicks, anything by the Coen Brothers or PT Anderson. Anything written by Charlie Kaufman . But I still enjoy a good campy John Waters film or something ridiculous like "Wet Hot American Summer..." and can also quote every line from "The Goonies," and "The Sandlot."
Lately I've been listening to this: Yo La Tengo, Chinup, Beach House, Fleet Foxes,
I am always reading something. I just finished Love in the Time of Cholera, now I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Gray and next up will be I Put a Spell On You (an autobiography by Nina Simone). I work in a bookstore and studied English in college, so my "books to read" list is massive.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I moved from Texas to the Netherlands which was a pretty amazing transition...moving back to Texas from the Netherlands is proving to be a difficult transition as well.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to learn most anything. How to play a new instrument, some new skill or trade---how to speak bits and pieces of a new language, and especially how to cook some good international dishes (cooking is not my major strength, so it'd be nice to learn some tricks of that trade...)
I can teach some things on guitar and piano, how to read sheet music and the like.
