ABOUT ME
I didn't grow up in Waarschoot, I grew up in Ghent and now I live in Waarschoot...
I try to make it as comfortable as possible for anyone around me (not in means of luxury but as a person, as a listening ear, as an easy-going person, staying calm, etc.), I try not to judge anyone and acceptance of all is important to me... On my international hitch-hiking trips I've met a lot of friendly people and I want to give something in return to all the travelers in the world... I know what it's like to be stuck in a city without being able to put up your tent, not knowing anyone and craving for a bed and/or a shower... I also know how happy one can be when someone offers him/her these simple basics... So all you travellers are welcome!!!
PHILOSOPHY
Carpe diem, anything goes, acceptance, back to basics,...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, it's quite clear... A place to sleep and wash up for a few days for backpackers... No need to pay for accomodation... Hospitality rules!! On the other hand, I don't offer a long term friendship (don't get me wrong, it is possible but traveling learned me that contact with people from all over the world is difficult to sustain)... I also don't offer a guided tour through the city in advance, but if I have the time and we get along it's possible... Further on, I'm not a tourist office so if you want information about the city look it up on the internet or go to the tourist office once you arrive (that's the charm of traveling, isn't it?)... I write these things because I feel CS has changed in time from a site for travelers looking for a place to sleep, to a site for travelers looking for friends, information or even a date all over the world... I ALSO DON'T HOST DURING THE GHENT FESTIVAL for the simple reason that my rhythm of life gets so fucked up during that period it's very inconvenient to host people (mid july to end july)... That's all folks ;?)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
People offering me a bed and a shower while hitch-hiking, or even a place to put up the tent (e.g. in a garden or a forest next door)... I always invite the people that have been too nice to me but until now no-one showed up to stay at my place... Luckally some other people surfed my couch by now, it feels good to give back some of what I got from other people...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most beautiful place I've ever been was the whole templecomplex of Angkor in Cambodia... In that same period I stayed for 3 months in the mountains of North-Vietnam, almost completely cut off the rest of the world, living as a local... Marvellous!!
