easy going & laid back, genuine, friendly, independent minded. Happy!
PHILOSOPHY
enjoy yourself. life is short, don't waste it on what's not worth it. your happiness will bring a world of good & every day you'll be happier for it :)
a close second is, give it 100% or don't bother doing it at all. life should be lived to the fullest.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i love meeting people! i am always happy to offer my hospitality :) i'll warn you my references may be misleading from when i could be a better host, but as busy as i might be guess are always assured of being taken care of.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
when i was 15 i took off & flew to California. my plan was to hitchhike to all the 48 states, spending a month or so in each. i did 1 mo, 1 wk & 1 day before the Rodney King riots broke out & i went home but there wasn't a night i didn't have a couch to crash on. unforgettable memories & awesome people!
Update: i am now an official CSer! took my first CS trip staying with 6 hosts in France & Austria. AMAZING!!! my best trip yet! finding cool people through CS i was more excited about this trip than any other, really looked forward to the people i was meeting. having local people to stay with was the hugest trip enabler! i got taken to sooooo many places i never would have had the chance or the thought to do. the people i stayed with were AMAZING. my entire trip felt like a visit with friends & family :)
Interests
always ready to chow down at one of NYC's many great eateries, with a great bottle of wine. go for the occasional pub crawl with friends. do the art gallery scene, museums, exhibition around town. arts & crafty, like to build stuff. love the outdoors, rollerblading, walking around. sometimes the occasional hike, backpacking, camping. big on environment. fascinated with history, cultures, social norms & relativism, revolution & change...

listing everything would be absolutely impossible but here are a few that stand out above & beyond...
-books: (nonfict) Empire, by Michael Hardt & Antonio Negri, (fict) Invisible Man, Ralph Ellison
-music: Toadies, Ella Fitzgerald, Black Crowes
-movies: American History X, Rabbit Proof Fence
(though i'm really kind of useless when it comes to TV/movies)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
humpback whale swimming under my feet in the open ocean, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu, hitchhiking halfway across the U.S., sailing through tremendous Pacific Ocean waves larger than the 55' sailboat, & most of all, witnessing the pure awesomeness of random people time & time again! now adding awesome Eurail CS trip across Austria to France!
Teach, Learn, Share
how to not get pounded in the surf: if the wave's cresting on you before you can dive under there is one guarantee way i discovered to save yourself from what would otherwise be a near drowning experience. the key is not to fight it. don't do anything! stiffen your body, horizontally, like a board. the current won't be able to pick you up & toss you around & will pass right over you. this will even work in 1 foot of water! promise. 100% foolproof! & i ate lots of sand before i figured this out.
