About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We love the "pay it forward" nature of this site and love meeting interesting and fun people
ABOUT ME
I am in my mid-thirties, I was born in Buffalo, NY but lived in NYC for 10 years where I met my husband Seth. We moved to Baton Rouge in May of 2007 while Seth finishes school after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is not a yahoo-macho-go-team-America-army-guy (not to bespeak our service men and women at all but it seems that people draw conclusions about his service) at all but a soft spoken, very smart, and charming guy. He is also a hell of a chef which is how I met him. He went to culinary school in NY and I worked as an event planner for a chef and he ended up working for our company- that is how we met.
Aside from cooking, we collect record albums and love live music of all kinds. We love to entertain and I think we are at out best when doing so. We also enjoy traveling and hope to use CS as guests sometime in the near future.
PHILOSOPHY
I am always happy to slow down to help out, give a hand up, or listen, and take the time to appreciate people that extend the same kindness. Being shown a true kindness is better than any material thing I can think of and hosting someone and sharing who you are is a very raw and real experience. That is what I love about this site. It makes you believe that people are mostly good in this world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We think that so much can be missed about a city or town if one isolates themselves to hotels and tour buses. I realized that of all the places I've been to in my life my fondest memories were not of museums and such (although I do enjoy them) but of the friends and people I surrounded myself with when I got there. The real flavor of any city or town is its people and we want to share that with our guests.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I backpacked in Europe after college and instead of hostels stayed with friends in most of the countries I visited. While I enjoyed the hostels and such when I had to stay in them, my favorite part of my travels was when I got to see my friends in their homes, how they spend their evenings, and interact with their family and friends.
Interests
Really good food and drink, live music, dancing, travel...these are the things that make our world go 'round (maybe not so much the dancing for my husband..but I love it!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I can't isolate one thing. The most rewarding thing in my life is my family and friends.
If I can speak for my husband I'd be willing to bet he'd say that serving in two wars was pretty interesting. He was able to connect with the people of Iraq and Afghanistan every day and learn about their lives, hopes, and dreams. They are not just news clips but real people.
Teach, Learn, Share
As I mentioned Seth is a wonderful cook and a great teacher so if you want to know how to make anything from fresh bread to the most complicated french dish..he is the best. He often hosts cooking demonstrations at our local farmer's market. He also speaks Arabic and a little Spanish.
We both enjoy woodworking but have not had a chance to do much of it. If you know how we'd love to learn more!
