About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Walkin about this big blue ball, tryin to find out what it's all about

ABOUT ME

I studied Anthropology with an emphasis on evolution, adaptation, and biology, and finished university almost 2 years ago.
I play Balinese Gamelan music, which lead me to travel to Indonesia in June 2007, and my world has opened up so much since then! The last year has been so transformative and unbelievable travelling through mountains, rainforest, deserts, ecofarms, languages and cultures of staggering beauty.

Interests

Music such as: Gamelan, Jazz (Monk, Coltrane, Mingus among others) Tom Waits, Erykah Badu, the Blues, Qawwali; Trekking/Backpacking; good books, Yoga especially Iyengar style, good eatin'(recent foods that have become staples: samosas, sugar cane juice, Balinese jajan, idly); primates (let's talk orangutans), evolution and thinking about why things are the way they are; biking, organic gardening, wandering Indian alleyways looking for magic, and living deeply.

Music, Movies, and Books

In the last couple months travelling, I've digested some delicious literature, and looking for more:
The Quiet American (Greene),
Sometimes A Great Notion (Kesey),
Truman Capote's Music for Chameleons and Breakfast at Tiffany's,
Lord Jim (Conrad),
Shakespeare's 12th Night,
(Dickens) A Tale of 2 Cities,
Bend Sinister and Pnin (Nabokov),
One Straw Revolution (Fukuoka),
A Thousand Cranes and Snow Country (Yasunari Kawabata),
Dubliners, (J Joyce).
The Inheritance of Loss (Kiran Desai)
Personal favorite at the moment is Nabokov.
