About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have a different travel experience, meeting new people, learning about a culture from within

ABOUT ME

I am easy going, curious, like to laugh (a lot) and meet new people...very not difficult to get along with.

I get easily passionnate about things and as I am curious, I constantly find new hobbies or interests. I like trying new things, especially everything that is food. Travelling always bring me this opportunity to be in search of new flavours and challenge my tastebuds!

I love travelling, and I had the opportunity to enjoy different types of travel (study, internships, backpacking, hiking, etc). What I prefer though is to stay a few months in the same place, in order to know more about the culture and experiment daily life.

I have a strong interest for arts, and I love people that are introducing me to new artists I never heard of (and there is a lot of them).

PHILOSOPHY

Creativity, open-mindedness
Learning.
Being curious about what is around you
Respect of yourself and of other people

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently living with roommates but I might be able to host sometimes.

If not, I would be more than happy to welcome you for a tour of my city: great restaurants, bars, festivals or anything you would be interested to see while in Montreal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used Couchsurfing four times, when I was visiting San Francisco and Toronto. It went very well and I enjoyed the experience!

I am looking forward to using it next time I'll be travelling.

Interests

I mostly like arts. Most of my studies were evolving around creation and I always prefered it to anything else. I studied in cinema, but I also love music, theatre, design, architecture, etc.

I also like learning new languages... at least try. Every country I've visited, I learned at least some basic sentences to get in contact with people in their own language.

Sometimes, I am trying at language of other travellers. In Spain, I have been taught the Czech alphabet. There was one letter I never could manage to pronounce and kept practicing and practicing (without any success!). I never got the right prononciation and it still haunts me to this day;P

That's one of the best part about travelling: meeting people that will teach you a little bit of them, of their culture, which passes through language.

News interests keep coming as I meet new people that introduce me to new things. I recently begin to play ukulele, and I am trying not to mistreat too much my teacher's ears;)

Music, Movies, and Books

There are tons and I keep discovering more. I like all about movies, musics and books. I constantly add new titles to my (huge) list of favorites.

This might be why I love arts: there are infinite possibilities of discoveries as we will never be able to watch everything, read everything, see everything. There is always something to discover. A big surprise box.

This is also an open door to culture, for I love foreign movies and this is one of the best way to travel when you actually can't do it.

Among my favorites filmmakers : Rainer W. Fassbinder, Wes Anderson, Werner Herzog, Ingmar Bergman, Brothers Coen, Abdellatif Kechiche, and Xavier Dolan (our national pride:)

Some TV shows: The Wire (best TV show ever!), Adventure Time, Community, Louie, Girls, House of Cards, etc..

Some music: Bon Iver, Santigold, Crystal Castles, Jon Hopkins, James Blake, Janelle Monae, Arcade Fire, Angel Olsen, M.I.A., Bjork, Radiohead, Majical Cloudz, Lykke Li, Sharon Van Etten, The Knife, Haim, Disclosure, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I like hiking and I think my two weeks hiking in the slovenian mountains were probably the most challenging though amazing moments I ever had in my life. I got lost almost everyday but met extraordinary people along my way.

Getting by mistake into a small place into middle of rural Serbia and finding a family to host me for a couple days who has a daughter who was my...serbian doppleganger.

I also did the pilgrim's way (camino de compostela) in spain for about 30 days and it was an incredible experience I will never forget.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you basic French language to help you getting around in Montreal (even though most of us are able to speak the fundamentals of English). As I love languages, you might have to stop me at some point for talking too much about it:)

I can teach you some history of Quebec, tell you more about the culture.
