About Me
(Not accepting guests at the moment as we are traveling)
We have helped set up a couple of interesting community projects - Mid CanterburyTimeBank and a local Savings Pool. TimeBanking is about exchanging skills and services for time credits instead of money- connecting with people in our community. And in a savings pool we pool our savings together with others and give out interest free loans to each other. We love seeing/hearing about other projects and things people are doing to make the world/ their environment/ community a better place- whether it's through their job, hobbies or community involvements. This is one reason we like couch-surfing as it gives us this opportunity to learn from others around the world.
We love travelling and meeting people from different countries (also hosting through couchsurfing, warmshowers and workaway). We did a big year long trip in 2016 - Here's Kate's blog about it if you are interested: www.kiwioutthere.com - she's going to blog about our latest trip starting in Israel too.
We enjoy trying to grow our own food, have three chickens, enjoy reading, living simply, staying fit, learning, being involved in our local community, exploring alternative economics and love being in the great outdoors. Kate loves vegetarian/ vegan cooking and learning languages. Antony likes to learn about small businesses and offer business advice (job and hobby).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Kate stayed with some great couch surfing hosts in Switzerland and Norway when she lived in Europe 10+ years ago and upon return to NZ became a host.
We have hosted CSers as well as warmshowers cyclists, helpXers and workawayers.
In 2016 we couchsurfed a lot during our 2 months in Iran.
We love meting new people and learning about their corner of the world, their passions and perspective on all sorts of things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Couch surfing in Iran was AMAZING. Some of the best experiences of our lives was with couchsurfers there.

We are happy to share about the community projects we've started if people are interested (see about me section above) and like to learn about other community and environmental projects people are involved in, also when traveling love to hear our hosts perspectives and views about their country/ politics etc.
