Copying Hospitality Club idea, Couchsurfing was created to make the world better, bringing people together, without any commercial purpose. It was mainly based on an active volunteering community, who wanted to change the relationships between people. Since it's been sold in 2012, couchsurfing is now a private corporation, running by profits. This site now has a totally different state of mind. As facebook, its purpose is to make as much money as possible, exploiting member's data for commercial purpose.
