About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Helping others discover some of the beauty and love in the world I have been fortunate enough to find.
ABOUT ME
I enjoy meeting new and interesting people and learning from them. I find so many things to appreciate and I find it difficult to understand those who find so much to complain about. I like people who are open to new ideas, have high ideals and are willing to defend their principles.
I enjoy being with others who have an appreciation of their own uniqueness and are comfortable with themselves. I now enjoy a life of greater introspection and contemplation than in the past. I have only two serious regrets in my life and one is that I was unable to travel more earlier in my life and that I didn't learn as much as I might have about the world we live in. I am trying to make up for it as much as possible now, however, it's just a slower process now than it might have been earlier.
My big goals now are to contribute to promoting and practicing a sustainable life style and to help retirees find a healthy comfortable place to live and opportunities to continue making a meaningful contribution to society to the extent of their ability and desire.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe evil people and ideas really do exist and are not likely to ever be eradicated. However, I believe even more strongly that the solution to some control over evil is the open and free exchange of ideas and a willingness of those who have far more materially than they will ever need to share it with the less fortunate but just as deserving. Sharing must not be limited to material matters we must also share our minds and hearts and time to teach and encourage.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am willing to host others and provide information.
I would like to help or set-up meetings in Houston or San Carlos area when I'm in Costa Rica.
I'm wiling to do whatever I can to promote the program.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
No previous Couch Surfing experience, but Mensa has a SIGHT program for members that operates similarly and I have been a local Coordinator and both a host and guest. I found the experience interesting and rewarding. I think just the willingness of someone to participate in a program like this is indicative of their philosophy and their approach to others.
Interests
Humanity, books, music, philosophy, psychology, sustainable living green building, improved communication and sharing between diverse cultures. Getting the most out of the years I have left while giving back something for all I have been blessed with thus far.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a mystery and spy thriller junkie reading everything written by several authors, such as James Patterson, Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum etc. I have been trying to read more authors from abroad or of U.S. immigrants that are set in their homeland, as applicable. I like Isabel Allende, Amy Tan,
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Victor Villasenor, Michael Ondaatje, Khaled Hosseini and too many others to name.
In music I like all sorts of good music, from Bluegrass, Reggae, R&B, Jazz, Classical, Opera and Classic Country and Western and Rock.
I'm not much of a movie goer, but I watch at home All time favorites are probably Doctor Zhivago, Days of Heaven, Harold and Maude, Jagged Edge, Fantastic Voyage and Sound of Music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'll have to get back to this one.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach a lot of things about the simple life. I'm willing to teach others anything I know that they want to learn or need to learn. I know about organization and process, business, accounting, law, construction, rearing children etc. I love learning and I love sharing what I know.
