About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy myself and someday figure out what I'm doing.

ABOUT ME

I am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh who studied abroad in Prague about a year ago. I grew up in Connecticut, so I'm very much a Nutmegger, but I love Pittsburgh and Prague. Anyway, I love listening to people's stories about themselves and the places they live or have been to. If I go past a church, I'll probably go in and attempt to identify at least a few of the saints depicted, or maybe just admire it, despite the fact that I'm not particularly religious.

You might also notice numerous references to beer on my profile. This is because I love drinking it and finding out about new beer from people, though I do my best not to be a complete drunk.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know if I really have a philosophy, I just try to have a good time with my friends and hopefully make new friends along the way. Usually while drinking beer, though that's not a requirement.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had people stay with me from all over the world, and I always like to hang out with surfers, even if it's only for a little bit. Swapping beer and stories is now one of my favorite pastimes thanks to CS. I'll host anyone who makes the trek up the hill to my place, however you manage it.

I'm also getting the next Pittsburgh Weekender organized, so if you have any suggestions as to what we should do, send me a message or drop me a line.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had the opportunity to surf with several great hosts in Europe, from Leipzig to Ljubljana and Belgium in between. Seriously, there is no dearth of interesting people on this website, especially those who appreciate a good beer. Even more fortunately, most of the people I've hosted seem to be of the same opinion, including the good beer part.

Interests

History (of any period and region), studying maps for their smallest details, trivia, going to concerts, collecting music in general, being a giant nerd, etc.

I've also been a tour guide for the Nationality Rooms here at the University of Pittsburgh, which is a pretty unique setup. I haven't given tours in a while, though if you're interested, I can probably talk to someone about showing you the rooms on a weekend, or you can just check them out on your own. Here's the site for those who are curious: http://www.pitt.edu/~natrooms/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked along the Great Wall of China and wondered exactly how anyone could possibly ride a chariot up extremely steep stairs. See, I once heard that the Great Wall was wide enough to ride a chariot across, but when I got there I realized that mountain climbing is the actual method of traversing the damn thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

The national sport of of the Czech Republic is defenestrations. Well, not really, but there have been enough of them in Bohemia to warrant the creation of a word to describe the act of throwing someone out of a window. This is what happens when you drink as much beer as the Czechs do.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
