About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore the USA and find a grad school program that suits me.
ABOUT ME
I'm Owen, 26 years old and currently trying to set myself up to do postgraduate study in the United States of America. I'm a pretty big geek, with a love of board gaming, computer gaming, and role playing stuff, but I'm also keen on urban exploration, juggling, and Lindy Hop. My field of research is artificial intelligence, and I love computers, robots, and other such stuff. I'm a vegetarian, but I'm not preachy about it. I speak German almost fluently and consider Berlin to be my second home, although I'm not likely to be able to get back there for a while.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to balance my heart and my reason as much as possible. Finding the right mix of thinking and doing is also a big theme for me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm only new to the site, but I've slept on friends' couches throughout the United States of America and throughout Germany. I've met up with friendly couch surfers at CouchSurfing events through my girlfriend Sophie, who is an active community member in Sydney, and those experiences made comfortable with going out on a limb and signing up myself.
Interests
Artificial intelligence, computer science, history, Lindy Hop, piano, roleplaying games, juggling, indie rock music, jazz, German language and culture, reading, ethics, salsa, comics, and booze.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dropping everything and running off to live in Berlin for half a year was without a doubt the most intense experience that I've ever had.
Teach, Learn, Share
The most "useful" thing that I can teach is juggling, which I'm always happy to do. I'm also deeply sympathetic towards people who are in English speaking countries, but don't speak English as a first language, because I've had that experience from the other side and am always happy to help people work on their language skills in either English or German.

France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Peru, United Kingdom
