About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finish my PhD

ABOUT ME

I'm working on my PhD at SOAS in London. This year, I'm in Paris conducting fieldwork. I know I should list some hobbies or interests, but the whole PhD thing takes up most of my time. I like going out with friends, eating Indian food, picnics, museums, traveling. I LOVE traveling. I've been to 26 countries, lived in 5 of them, and I speak a couple of languages (all with a loud American accent, sorry). Ok, I guess I have hobbies, but I don't always have the time or money to enjoy them!

I love food, especially really spicy stuff.

I love Senegal and trying to speak Wolof.

I'm an anthropologist so I'm very interested in other cultures. I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie too. Basically, I find everything fun, and I find everyone interesting and I'm always looking to make new friends and have a great conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything tastes better with a beer and some friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel and talk with people and try to make memorable experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had so many great experiences from partying in the mountains of Pistoia to drinking tons of mojitos with Martina in Prague. I've had nothing but great hosts and met so many nice people that I could not even begin to list them all here...

Thank you to everyone who has hosted me and my friends, I truly appreciate it with all my heart :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: EDM, classic rock

Books: I read a lot of ethnographies and anthropology books, since I have to for my research. When I find the time, I'm trying to catch up on Game of Thrones

Movies/TV: BBC shows, anything sci-fi/fantasy, comedies...I'll watch almost anything

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Prague was, hands down, my best adventure...thanks to Martina. I went twice within almost a month, and it was amazing. And a meal and a beer cost less than a pint of ale in France. Imagine that!

Spent 2 months in Senegal in the summer of 2011 doing research with an NGO for my degree.

I've lived in Bordeaux, Washington DC, Barcelona, London, and now Paris.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Senegal, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, United Kingdom, United States
