About Me

This is a shared Profile - for Rhonda, David and Andre - of course we all host - not just me alone. We will assist any way we can, when we can. Welcome to Sydney.

CURRENT MISSION

A smile says it all - I will try to keep Smiling and I think that Laughter Makes the World Go Round

ABOUT Rhonda

I backpacked for 6 years all around the world from the age of 19 to 25yrs. This was back in the 1970's - but even back then there was always the "unofficial" couch surfing around. Often people invited me home to stay with them. I valued that so much.

It always meant so much to me to "touch base" again within a family unit. I remember how that always filled the empty gap - when I thought about home and family. It gave me the incentive to 'keep on going' with my travels.

This next comment may sound funny to today's young travellers, but in 1972 it took me 6 weeks to go from Perth (Aust) to London by ship ( and people today complain about a 20 hour flight :)] ... it was a a great way to start of my European leg of my journey!

ABOUT David

Sailing, sailing and more sailing. He prefers to sail on any days ending in day!

PHILOSOPHY

CARPE DIEM!

As they say "Life is what YOU make it". That's what my personal philosophy has been .

Yes the world IS your oyster - so I say go get it! It's all out there - just waiting for you to find it.

I always got my highs from a happy well travelled life, my travels back in my backpacker days gave it to me.

My thoughts - it should be compulsory for ALL young people to travel - before they ultimately settle down.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my travels back in the 1970's whilst on my world tripping around - there was many a time that I made friends with 'locals' and ended up being invited back to their home and was able to sleep on their couch.

Never once did I have a single bad experience. I found people were genuine with their offer and were interested to find a young girl on the other side of the world by herself.

We look forward to meeting our CouchSurfing guests ....

NOTE :since joining CS end Jan 06 - have already - had happy times with CS's - ahh the wonders of the Internet - bringing us all together.

Interests

I along with my husband and 2 sons 36 and 33 yrs old have enjoyed the company of many young international traveller's especially hearing about their adventures (makes me keep young)

Music, Movies, and Books

Modern music - rock - dance - rap (ha ha I have sons and at times I had no choice but to join them ! )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every country seemed to have that ONE amazing thing I have seen or done in my lifetime !

Maybe it was the 1 year in 1970 that alone - I rode a 50cc Motor scooter ALL around New Zealand... OR

Returning home - Overland from London to Sydney starting from London on the "Orient Express" train to Istanbul, Turkey - using the local PUBLIC TRANSPORT all the way to Bali - which included the open bus trip through the Kyber Pass (yes we sat on the roof) - maybe not all so amazing - but all was an ADVENTURE !

Teach, Learn, Share

We will share our home with you with Open Arms ... however, we like to take CouchSurfers who are 'Real' CouchSurfers, who will when they get back to their home country - 'give back' to the couchsurfing family - what they got from it. (and not just use it as a one-minute-wonder and convenience while they are travelling - then forget the wonderful opportunity that they had)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy pleasant conversation ... share funny travel stories ~ perhaps have a good natter in the kitchen while we prepare a meal ~ as I did in Russia with our beautiful warm hearted host ... me not speaking Russian and Host not speaking English ... AND yes we knew exactly what we were saying to each other and prepared an amazing meal for 5 out of not much ingredients!
