About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Let your honesty shine!
ABOUT ME
"All you need is love!" - the Beatles.
All people are worthy of compassion, regardless of race, ethnicity, colour, creed, religion, political affiliation, past or present behaviour, sexual orientation, gender, physical capabilty, mental capability, and whether or not they have hurt you or me or anyone else or cared for you or me or anyone else.
I believe both anarchy and fascism are unsound doctrines because one is creativity without rule and the other is rule without creativity. Concurrently, democracy is also problematic because many people can be greedy, vain, lazy and full of arrogance (myself included); but democracy is also a solution because people can be caring, intelligent, just, and loving.
I believe that justice and peace and compassion are necessarily going to exist as both salves AND irritants in our world.
I read, write music and poetry and short stories, and play music, and enjoy dialectic.
PHILOSOPHY
Justice, peace and compassion are necessarily going to exist as both salves AND irritants in our world.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Utah Phillips, Norah Jones, Bob Dylan, Hawksley Workman, Xavier Rudd, Janis Joplin, the Sex Pistols, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Alanis Morissette, the Headstones, Cat Stevens/Yusaf Islam, Bellowhead, Final Fantasy; and much, much more. I especially enjoy folk music from North America, Ireland and Africa. I enjoy the sound of well-blown bagpipes. My favourite intrumental sound is that of the French Horn. I love all dance music...swing, salsa, techno, trance, waltzing...I'm not a skilled dancer by any stretch of the imagination, but I'll groove anyways.
Movies: "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"; "Jesus Christ Superstar"; "Back to the Future" trilogy; "The Breakfast Club"; "Gleaming the Cube"; "Pump up the Volume"; "Full Metal Jacket"; "Apocalypse Now"; "Platoon"; "Paths of Glory"; "Forest Gump"; "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert"; "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"; "Bladerunner"; definitely NOT "Eraserhead"; "Big Fish"; "Reservoir Dogs"; "Pulp Fiction"; "Before Sunrise"; "Before Sunset"; "Waking Life"; "American Beauty"...and many more!
Books: "Franny and Zooey" (and anything else by J.D. Salinger); anything by W.P. Kinsella; "the Name of the Rose"; "Brave New World"; "The Count of Monte Cristo"; "the Color Purple"; "The Phantom Toolbooth"; "Lord of the Flies"; anything by Kurt Vonegut Jr, "Green Grass, Running Water", "Everything is Illuminated," "The God of Small Things"...and many more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In Banff, Alberta I discovered it is possible to surf down the loose shale on mountains. In the words of Jack Kerouac: "I then realized that you can't fall off a mountain. I don't know if you can, but I know that you can't" (the Dharma Bums).
