ABOUT ME
short story:
I grew up in Aalbeke. That's a little town in the west of Flanders (Northern part of Belgium, land of beers, chocolate and fries). As a kid, I've always played football. Besides the football games I also went to the Chiro, that's a sort of youth movement where we play games, organize different events, make a lot of fun. I was a guide for three years in this group. At the age of 18 I went to Ghent to study Physical Education. The competitive, robot mentality wasn't really my thing, so I quit this university. After some months, I decided to study Social Cultural Work. And I'm very glad I did so. After finishing that bachelor, I went to France to study Intercultural Management. The first semester in Lorient was a great succes. Later I went to Magdeburg, Germany to continue the programm. After this german semester I did an internship in Belgium working with a Murga. That's a crazy bunch of people dancing and playing music, theatre,...in the streets of Antwerp. After this, I moved to Nicosia, Cyprus, to study marketing. Interesting stay at the island of Aphrodite. Afterwards, I went back to Lorient to exchange experiences with my class mates who went to other countries. Next, I went to Berlin for an internship at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. I met the most wonderful people and had a crazy time in Europe's most exciting city.
Since a couple of years, I have been promoting European cross-border cooperation. I started managing projects in social welfare and agrifood. Currently I am working for the 2 Seas Programme as Communication officer. An exciting job introducing me to a interesting network of people and taking me to lovely places in Europe.
PHILOSOPHY
You can't milk a cow with your hands in your pants. But you shouldn't buy any, if you can get the milk for free.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Whenever possible, I try to host people, but that didn't happen a lot in the past. Mostly, because I have been traveling myself for some time.
I surfed a handful of couches.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed different couches in Germany. One in Magdeburg, one in Dresden and two in Berlin. You can check out my references where you find more details on those experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of movies, a lot of music and a lot of books. In the following list you just find names floating in my mind at this very moment. So the list isn't complete at all.
Movies:
A Clockwork Orange, Any Way the Wind Blows, Steve and Sky, Hotel Rwanda, Lost in Translation,...
(Lynch, Loach, Allen, Tarantino,...)
Music:
From "easy listening" to "difficult-to-understand". (for example: from "Billie King" to "Dez Mona")
I like music that's telling an interesting story.
Books:
I'm not a die hard reader, but I loved reading Milan Kundera, parts of Oscar Wilde, Brusselmans, Poems of Jotie 't Hooft and Paul Van Ostajen,...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's about a specific view, one night. I was standing on our balcony enjoying the Scorff, when I suddenly experienced a wonderful feeling. Very warm, though it was a cold night. Hard to describe.
