About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To "be the change I want to see in this world." -Ghandi

ABOUT ME

I am a seasoned traveler curently residing in Shanghai, China. I am learning Mandarin. I am a Physical Geographer I anticipate studying the environmental impacts of the Three Gorges Dam in graduate school(sexy, huh?;), but for right now, learning chinese and managing a restaurant is about all I can handle. I spent years traveling and I think that after having my fair share of free accomodation, its the least i can do to offer some back. Ya know, trying to keep my karma balanced and all that!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too damned short to sit around waiting for all the pieces to fall into place. Why on earth would you wait to live your life after you retire? My least favorite words in the english language are "should, could, would, & but". I'm not afraid to die, but I am terrified by the thought of a mundane life

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In my travels I have had some amazing experiences. I have run into the same guy on three different continents! It's a small world after all! The most expensive part of traveling is the accommodation. If I offer a free bed. That might help make globe trotting more accessible for more people. This will help build more global tolerance and understanding. I want to help make the world even smaller. I hope to do that by participation in this project.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have too many of these tales to include here now!

Interests

Outdoorsy stuff. Hiking, climbing, etc... I love to cook and try new foods (I'm formally trained as a chef) and China has offered me a plethora of newthings to try! I love reading and am a bit of a news junkie.I like nice wines and cheap beer. I am a total nerd and just love to learn new things. Teach me something!

Music, Movies, and Books

The Alchemist, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galexy, Rabbit Proof Fence, To Kill a Mocking bird, Stark, Fluke, Like Water for Chocloate

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Where do I even begin... This world is just such a beautiful place and there are so many beautiful people in it...I can't even begin to say... though sunrise in the gum tree forest on Wilson's Promonotory Natl Park in Australia is coming to mind. The smell of the Euclyptus trees after it rains is amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am well educated on the environmental problems in China. More specifically, the water issues that face the country and the world. I am a chef (first profession) and i love to cook and share meals with people.
