ABOUT ME

hi, for years i have been on the proverbial 'road', traveling between countries, between cultures, languages, climate zones, demographics, lifestyles, workplaces, institutions of learning, and communities.
in 2013 i marked 7 and with it the end of one cycle.
in those years i was more often than not on the receiving end; receiving the kindness of strangers, the teachings of people turned friends, the support and hospitality of communities, the reward of hard work, and the patience of family. as i reflect in retrospect i see a slanted account, a privileged story of one girl turned woman with the guidance and help of many. in these years and along the way i moved and became principally because of that which i received. an immeasurable amount of love delivered in every imaginable (and some un-imaginable ways). with this loan of goodwill and empowering charity i was afforded the opportunity to grow up and recognize myself as a link and a member of a movement towards good.
now 6 years have passed. i settled in a tiny valley at the foothills of the andes mountains in the north of argentinan patagonia. i became a mother, built a house and a garden, and am now in a chapter of my life where i am ready to open the doors to my home :)

PHILOSOPHY

To experience things as unfamiliar and strange is a specifically human capability. Animals are in no position to develop this sort of distance between themselves and the world in which they live. The capacity to wonder and inquire, grounded in that distance, is a manifestation of a fundamental freedom, the freedom to conceive and re-conceive the world in many ways, and to change one's relation to it accordingly. Instead of being locked into a particular cultural tradition, for example, with its fixed and established ways of looking at and relating to things, human beings are endowed with the capacity to take a step back from everything and to look at the world at any time as if it were entirely new, i. e., strange. This capacity constitutes a unique way of being in the world, and it is the basis for the possibility of taking a hold of one's life in a way no other kind of being has.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have met some of the very best people i know through CS.
friends for a lifetime or two.
i would not trade the beauty and education this project has brought to my life for anything, unless maybe it were to give someone else a similar experience.

there is this uncannily courageous element in all participants, in risking the unknown for the potential of a communal experience. one that could quite possibly go in any direction.. but we are all hoping that we find that 'last surfer's paradise'; unchartered, unfiltered, raw, under the radar, unpredictable, without expectation, pure human meeting human in transit and crossing boundaries to connect and share XYZ.
these days it doesn't happen so much like that in the mainstream. people are more inclined to seek out specific ideas before giving themselves the freedom and support to go towards the unknown and unspoken for.
CS is a part of the last frontier, or the new frontier?! either way, i applaud the project for its efforts. thank you CS, it is a privilege to take part in this community and this way of life.
