About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see more, to meet more, to experience more, to think more, to love more, to become more. To stop being so greedy.

ABOUT ME

Hello.

I would think my friends and people who know me would say Im a kind, funny, easy going, talkative, interesting and like-able guy. Thats what I would like to think anyway!

Excuse the photo. I dont usually pose with such vigor. I also dont usually drink cocktails. And I dont usually sit at the top of rather tall buildings in Chicago while the sun sets!

So, basically, look at the photo, but dont assume anything from it.

So, what else about me?

I was, until recently in a job that I hated. The repetitivness and mundane day-to-day paper pushing led me to despair.

Ive since quit, and embarked on a mind clearing and mind expanding trip across Europe meeting and mixing with different cultures and people. The freedom to grow a proper beard was an added bonus.

PHILOSOPHY

"A philosphy should be seen and not heard."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, as you can see, I have verfied myself to level 3, I think this adds to the safety of Couchsurfing but also shows that I believe in it as a way of meeting new people.

So far I have mostly surfed. I think its time I start getting more active.

I also spread the love of CS by drunkenly telling anyone who will listen how great it is. What a great means of travelling it is. How amazing all the people you meet from it are. You will eat where the locals eat. Drink where the locals drink. Party where the the locals party. Sleep where the locals sleep. Speak how the locals speak. And ultimatley become a much more than just a tourist, much more than just a traveller, you will become a Couchsurfer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far Ive had nothing but extremely positive experiences from Couchsurfing. Meet ups, drinks, surfs, parties. This is all in a short two month tour across Europe.

Now it includes strangers beds, strangers who became friends! And everyone else who helps make this project so AMAZING!

Heres a list of my Surfing experiences: A list of names and places really doesnt do my hosts justice, nor does it include the countless amount of CS-ers who I have met through meet ups along the way, all of whom have a special place in my heart, (as long as they dont mind being spoken about so clichedly).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled the USA. Ive fished in Miami, Ive slept in a Walmart car park, Ive walked on Elvis's carpet, Ive danced in a Honkey Tonk bar, Ive watched the bats in Texas and smoked joints when the rain wont allow for anything else, Ive star gazed on a New Mexico highway and searched for UFOs nearer Roswell. Ive hiked amongst bears in The Wilderness at Alberqueque, Ive partied for Halloween in Flagstaff and drove along Route 66. Ive seen the Canyon at sunrise, and sunset, with some hiking (and sore legs) in between. Ive played the slots at Vegas, and visited the zoo at San Diago. Ive seen a pilot show in LA, and lots of girls at San Luis Obispo. Ive visited secluded beaches on the Big Sur and taken a tram round San Fransico. Ive driven hours through Nevada, Utah, Idaho and admired the geysers at Yellowstone National Park. Ive stayed in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, and hiked around the Rockies. Ive posed in front of Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse momument. Ive spent Thanksgiving in Chicago and seen Niagra Falls after a night in Toronto. Ive sang kareoke in the oldest Inn in Boston and Ive taken a bite from the Big Apple. Ive eaten a Philly Cheese Steak at Rocky Balboa's second favourite steak-place, and posed as a tourist outside the White House. Ive driven half way back across america to see Jerry Springer and then spent another long drive back to Florida. Ive driven around key west on a pedal bike and posed with an wild (baby) alligator at the Everglades.

and taken a long flight back to the UK.

That was the USA in a very small nutshell. I have many more places I want to visit!

Teach, Learn, Share

Ill put a little Mark Twain Quote:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
