About Me

CURRENT MISSION

hike to CANADA

ABOUT ME

"It is better to be endangered and free than captive and comfortable." -Tom Robbins

I am currently hiking the 2650 mile long Pacific Crest Trail, which travels from Mexico to Canada. It is typically a 5 month trip!

I just finished a masters in mycorrhizal ecology, specifically looking at the effect of invasive earthworms on fungal diversity! It's much more exciting than it sounds, I promise

PHILOSOPHY

I once had the song "Zippadeedooda" by Louis Armstrong stuck my head for two years.

Music, Movies, and Books

most music when it is live and outside or in a small, dingy bar (but always Avett Brothers, Trampled by Turtles, Weepies, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Spring Creek, Dolly Parton, Gillian Welch, Hackensaw Boys, Janis Joplin, etc)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked from Georgia to Maine in 2006 & had a close encounter with an anteater in Ecuador. Too much too list, but I have been lucky to travel and experience a lot.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking and baking, the ART and appreciation of compost, relief printmaking, and long distance self-propelled travel (backpacking & bicycling). I have also done a lot of field and lab research. I contra-dance with limited skill and unbridled enthusiasm. I can teach you to do any of those things.

I am just starting to learn the mandolin. I would like to be unafraid of heights and karaoke.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala, Laos, Mali, Panama, Peru, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
