ABOUT ME

I smile a lot (I hope it's not unnerving). I'm positive, thoughtful, and I love a good old chat. I'm more comfortable listening than talking, but can get going with a bit of warming up. I love my old friends, but I thrive off meeting new people. At my best I'm enthusiastic, at my worst I'm a bit flighty. I don't want to miss any of all the awesome things.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Up to now, it's been a great way to meet people, both at home and away. I'd love to start hosting soon as it seems like a brilliant way to travel without traveling and meet so many diverse people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to couchsurfing by a wonderful group of people I met in a hostel in Cairo. We tried to leave a trail of paper butterflies as we traveled that would bring people to a group we created on this website - we were probably over optimistic about it working (it didn't work), but it was fun at the time! I've been a member of the Cambridge and South West London Couchsurfing communities and met some lovely people and had lovely times.

兴趣

I like theatre, reading, writing (but not if I think of people reading it), folk music, being a wannabe hippy, walking, camping, volunteering, house parties where you stay up too late, going to new places, meeting lots of different people, feeling part of a community, religion (though I don't have a specific one), keeping up with what's going on in the world (I'm not so good at that, but maybe if I write it on here, I'll try harder!).

Books: I love reading, here are a range of favourites: Jane Eyre, The Lord of the Rings, The Book Thief, Norwegian Wood, Possession, A tale for the time being, The Earthsea Quartet, On Green Dolphin Street, Delight, Stoner, Jacdaw Summer,Middlesex.

Movies: (I'm not a massive film buff, so am always up for guidance in this area. This, however, comes with the warning that if it's scary, I won't sleep and if it's sad, I will cry.) The Shawshank Redepmption, Amelie, Pot Luck, Harold and Maude, American Beauty, Into the wild.

Music: Anything folky (old or nu), 90s dance (Rhythm is a Dancer makes me happy every time), 70s rock (I <3 Tom Petty), 80s pop (Wham? Annie Lennox? All of it.), the type of electro pop that is no longer in fashion (Yeasayer), a bit of indie (why do the Arctic Monkeys gigs sell out so fast?), people with guitars and beautiful lyrics (I'd marry Foy Vance and Laura Marling both tomorrow).

Wiser people have shown me that the secret is to see the amazing in the everyday. I'm going for that, though the Britishness in me thinks a good moan can be very healthy when the time is right!

Share: Theatre + Primary school teaching + European Voluntary Service = Lots and lots of silly group/ice breaker games (that I promise not to force upon unwilling victims).

Learn: About anything you feel passionate or interested in. Also, the ukelele. I'm rubbish at practicing on my own.
