About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to absolutely never stop
ABOUT ME
I'm very into MOVEMENT in all senses of the word.
I don't smoke, eat seafood, or drink coffee but enjoy most people who do. I do enjoy people, though I crave my solitude in big morsels. I tend to travel alone, but after a 3-month U.S. venture, I definitely began to appreciate the value of shared experience more. My friends say I have no vices, unless you count rock n roll. I'm pretty full of life, I like to laugh, and I feel like I'm becoming more optimistic despite more and more reality and older age setting in. Above all I have no regard for idleness!
My dream job no longer exists as of the 21st century. My memory is terrible, but I'll remember your face, your birthday, and what record we were listening to when it all went down.
Some of my major goals are to conduct an orchestra, become a surfing bum, build and live in a treehouse, and become an Aussie rules referee. I'm always doing something musical. I play, make records, and tour under the name Saint Solitude.
PHILOSOPHY
I hear more excuses than I do ideas these days- start doing and creating instead of simply talking!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed a great deal from 2006-2012, and hosted as well. But since then I haven't been in a place where I can host (or an apartment big enough) and have been camping much more than couchsurfing. But I'm always down to meet locals.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My virgin Couchsurf was in London in September 2006 and it was such a positive experience that I spent most of my Central European trip with CSers. Since then I've surfed sporadically in the U.S., in particular over a 3-month U.S. tour/road trip, where I met and stayed with over 2 dozen CSers.
Interests
Touring n' exploring. The Great North! Watching dogs swim. Music in many forms. Being outside, hiking. Fires. Pupusas. packrafting! Assorted books and movies. One or two beers (and rarely more). Rivers! I am an aquatic creature and currently am getting obsessed with packrafting. Do you know a good swimming hole? Cos I will probably ask you where the closest one is- or show you one.

Music, Movies, and Books
the Smashing Pumpkins are holy to me. primarily i'm a student of rock n roll, but I listen to a lot of stuff...post-punk, surf rock, 50s-60s jazz, pop, old old blues, country-tinged stuff like Beachwood Sparks and my love, Neko Case. Anything recorded before 1940 (Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf). I love the Brits the most, like the the Manics, Suede, Echo and the Bunnymen, Ride, Oasis. Also Santigold, The Seshen, The Mercury Program, The Strokes, The Flaming Lips, The National, R.E.M. and on and on... for movies, i try my best to stay away from the hollywood stuff but occasionally dabble. give me bergman, lynch, kubrick, cronenberg, kaufman, eternal sunshine, a river runs through it. Books: Winter's Tale, Walden, any Kerouac, natural histories.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
ask me, ask me, ask me. cos if it's not love, then it's the bomb, the bomb, the bomb that will bring us together!
Teach, Learn, Share
I saw a guy's page about "International Train Tickets 101" once and thought that references like that make travelling projects like this work.
