Current mission objective is to try to balance work with fun. Seem to be doing okay so far.

ABOUT ME

I've got a very easy going, optimistic personality and am curious about most everything. For me, just being alive is a pleasure and I plan to continue enjoying life for as long as possible, hopefully hundreds of years. One of my goals is to walk on the moon by the year 2030.

I've got two wonderful daughters and one granddaughter. I also am the the oldest of 9 siblings of a growing, Minnesota family.

My main focus now is growing my web services company, www.ntelligentsystems.com. Since Nov. 2012, I've been traveling in Portland, OR, where I'm helping a friend get a liver transplant, courtesy of the VA. Not sure how long I'll be here, but it looks like mid-2013. Much to my surprise, I've met someone special here in the Portland area so we're out in nature or enjoying the night life quite a bit.

So far I've surfed, hosted and make a donation at least every time I surf.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is what I thought it would be from the beginning - a great way to meet a lot of very interesting people. I've been fortunate to have hosted a few people and I've couchsurfed in Hawaii, Vegas, and Flint, Michigan.

Wide and varied, including the internet, evolution, living a very long (more than 150 years), healthy life, consciousness, people, cosmology, cartoons (my favorites are Popeye from the 40s), graphic novels, public radio and tv, Obama and the change for the good that most of the planet is hoping he represents, walking on the moon (which I intend to do by 2030).

I almost always would rather see an Indie than mainstream film. Some examples of movies that I've liked include 300, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Groundhog Day (one of my all time favs), I Remember Mama (Irene Dunne blows me away, wish I could have met her), Ironman, Lawrence of Arabia, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Watchmen.

I enjoy listening to all good music, except country, just can't seem to get that. I do like a lot of the old cowboy music though, like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers.

Books are definitely my favorite. When I walk into a library, I feel like I'm walking on holy ground. Here are some of my favorite reads, Canopus in Argos, Epoch of Evolution (all time fav, so far), First Immortal, Ismael, Naturalist, by E. O. Wilson, The Tracker (I intend to take classes), The Harrad Experiment.

Seeing the Egyptian pyramids in Giza. We have all seen photos and video, but that doesn't prepare you for the experience of seeing them in person. It just doesn't make sense that 4,700 years ago, those Egyptians were compelled to build these pyramids, and the Sphinx. When you stand next to the pyramid, the blocks of stone are huge, the scale is astounding and, from what I've read and seen, the precision of construction is immensely impressive. Why would people that long ago go to such lengths? If you get the chance, make sure you see these too. And make sure you see the Egyptian Museum in Cairo; it's like walking into an Indiana Jones movie.
