We took a year off to travel through Central Asia. We bought a car in Osh, Kirgistan, and are now discovering old and new Silk road cities in Kasachstan, Kirgistan, Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran,... driving home for Christmas. Afterwards we plan to spend a month bikepacking in the Philippines.

We like travelling and meeting people from other countries, learning about their culture, picking up bits of their language and trying their food. Besides doing sports like trekking, kayaking and snorkelling we very much enjoy reading (especially travel guides) and planning adventures. Timo loves to take pictures and would get up any time of the day to catch the best light.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We believe that no hotel could ever provide the insight into a country as the tiniest bit of room on the floor could do. So in the previous years we have done a lot of couchsurfing and have learnt a lot from couchsurfers. The people we have met, have for sure contributed to our open-mindedness and tolerance and have encouraged our desire to take more time off to see the world!

We haven’t couchsurfed in a while but do look forward to do it again - and host more once we get back home.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Nepal, we combined several treks (Mustang, Annapurna Circuit, Manaslu Circuit, Tsum Valley) into a six-week trek around colossal mountains decorated with prayer flags and buddhist prayer wheels. We reached a height of 5416m which literally took our breath away. (September 2018)
