About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Snowboarding, rock climbing, and finding new ways to illuminate my life!
ABOUT ME
I am currently working and living in Boise, Idaho, and loving every minute of it. My job is pretty much exactly what I was hoping to get after graduate school, and this part of the country has turned out to be far more amazing than I could have imagined.
I generally like to say "yes" to new ideas, new locations, new people, and new experiences. My sense of adventure is always nagging.
I'm outgoing and generally a very happy, optimistic guy. Drop me a line!
PHILOSOPHY
Appreciate.
The smallest, most random events color our daily lives, and I look forward to these things every day.
And then the world around us is just so huge and beautiful. It's all beautiful.
Optimism. With all of those darn beautiful things out there, how can you NOT be optimistic? I like to surround myself with others who share this positive energy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think CS is an outstanding program, and its members are the biggest reason why. For that reason, I try to recommend mainly to people who have the couchsurfing mindset... people who "get it"
Respectful, peaceful, culturally aware... let's keep it that way!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, I have only surfed others' couches, both while studying abroad in New Zealand, and then in various places in the United States. I have had nothing but absolutely positive experiences with Couchsurfing, and fully recommend it.
I have informally invited bands and other travelers to stay on my couch, but look forward to my first opportunity to "officially" host a CouchSurfer.
Interests
Snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, snow shoe, swimming, exploring random areas that you never thought would be interesting. The most random experiences are the ones I remember and love the best.
Seeing and experiencing the beautiful natural world around us. There is raw beauty in a solitary mountain, or a pristine, golden beach.
Meeting new people! That's huge.
Going to see live music shows, that's another big one. I really enjoy ska music, so those are my favorite shows, but anything from punk rock, to a singer with a 12 string, to an orchestra playing in a music hall, I love it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my biggest accomplishments in life so far is that I have been snowboarding at least once per month, for the last 25 consecutive months. This journey has taken me to some pretty amazing places, like hiking up jagged peaks in Idaho, and beautiful glaciers on Cascade volcanos.
Teach, Learn, Share
Take your guidebook and throw it away. Talk to the locals and the old-timers of an area to see what they know. Take their advice!
If you're interested, I've been snowboarding for about 8 years now, and can definitely provide a lesson or two. Likewise, I've been playing sax for even longer, and could teach that if you wanted! :)
