Overview
About Me
I'm a musician, so a lot of my travel is touring, and would always rather hang out with a local than get stuck in some soulless hotel somewhere!
Never lived in one place that long when I was growing up, which has left me as a certifiable travel junkie, believe passionately that if you can't get there barefoot or on rollerblades it's most likely not worth going, and have had great trouble coming to terms with the fact that I don't, and never will, see everything there is to see out there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Have always surfed and hosted, great to find a site that brings it all together.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first surf was a shot in the dark when I found myself broke and lost in Beijing. Everyone I got in touch with was amazing beyond belief, and now could not be more hooked on the whole system.
Interests
Missions. Adventures. Wild camping where weather and likelihood or running into jungle drug hideouts permit. Discovering new people, sights, opinions, cultures, art, sports and similar. Live music. If it's playing somewhere I will do whatever it takes to get there. Playing music, especially with other people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Whenever I travel, there's always a ridiculous amount of book swapping. So far on this trip I've read 'Beautiful Losers' and 'Godel, Escher, Bach', both very good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the stars from a frozen lake in Mongolia while we waited for the spare jeep parts to arrive.
Visiting the Tenate people, some of the last forest nomads around, in Indonesia.
Watching the sun set. Doesn't matter where, s'always beautiful.
Teach, Learn, Share
Yang Q'in, Guitar, Piano, Saxaphone, Bass, Some drumming. Also learning the baglama (turkish guitar) and morin khur (mongolian cello). Always excited to discover a new instrument.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Gig freebies, if I'm playing while I'm staying, acroyoga - something everyone should try at least once :-) - my enthusiastic, generally successful, approach to cooking, drinks, stories, all the good things
