Overview
About Me
I'm currently a student on summer break. I'm studying nursing but use to work as a photography guide in Alaska for several years. I can't host right now because I'm driving from Texas to Bellingham, WA where I've been in school the last two years. I'm new to couch surfing and hoping to meet people along the way from Texas to Washington to hike or photograph with.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like meeting fellow travelers and sharing information about where I've been and help provide a positive experience to people who are traveling.
Interests
I have a BA in photography and use to work in Alaska as a photography guide for about 5 years. Climbing is one of my passions and I've been climbing for roughly 10 years on and off and currently learning the climbing areas around Bellingham, WA. I also like to cook and try to learn new dishes when I travel. Last December I visited my mom in Viet Nam and her friend taught me a chicken noodle dish that I'm happy to share with other people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all types of music and fluctuate between Indie, hip hop, rap, blues, soul, bluegrass, and reggae.
I don't really have a favorite book but I recently read The Martian and I'm currently reading Desert Solitaire, Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, and Half Broke Horses.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I traveled to Viet Nam, with the help of friends, phrase books, and iphone apps, I learned enough Vietnamese to hire a motorcyle taxi for the day and traveled around the Sa Pa region going to many different places and learning more Vietnamese. The highlight was at the end of the day when I was able to communicate with the taxi that I wanted to rent a motorcycle and ask him to teach me to ride. It was difficult and funny dealing with language barriers, but in the end he helped me out and taught me how to ride and get back to the small village that I was staying in. The next couple of days were full of freedom as I travelled the countryside on a motorcycle for the first time.
