ABOUT ME
in simple terms:
Ineterested and interesting
more descriptive terms:
very optimistic, independent yet aware of the innate need for community. I row, bike, run, hike... walk... like crazy.
Right now, my partner and I are traveling around the US looking for land to buy so that we may someday homestead. Along the route we are visiting various farms and farming communities to get a feel for each area.
PHILOSOPHY
"Patience is a virtue"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted many Couch Surfers and surfed a few times. As of right now, I am traveling and wanted to learn more about people's communities through this wonderful and progressive organization.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Mostly I have hosted - All have been wonderful guests. I even made a friend that I later met up with in another continent, which really goes to show the amazing connections that can last by merely taking that first step and truly getting to know someone.
Interests
Although my interests fluctuate, I am generally very passionate about food and how to grow it and sustain myself, about herbalism, sewing, water (and rowing, canoeing, cliff jumping, and good ol' swimming). Oh, and lots and lots of camping.

Music, Movies, and Books
So, so, so many books out there that I love and will love. Too hard to think. The one's that I have read more than twice: Hatchet, Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Little Prince.
Music - My yearly infatuations with certain artists that never cease: Neil Young, The Be Good Tanyas, Sean Hayes, Dawn Landes.
Movies - Along the lines of Science of Sleep, Stealing Beauty, Off the Map
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every place has its qualities, but the overall state of Maine is surprisingly wonderful and then once that surprise wears off, is just damn amazing. If that makes any sense.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - I can and have taught people how to sew. What a wonderful (and potentially inexpensive) art form that is dying but that is so essential. Interesting herbal info, farming and gardening skills, bike maintenance are a few other skills. Also, I have really great camping and survival skills that I have learned first hand.
Learn - I would love to learn more languages, how to can food, and especially how to build a sustainable and off-the-grid living space.
Share - a love for nature, amazing natural springs in Austin, and special things that are often over-glazed, like great libraries and grocery stores
