CURRENT MISSION
Fight the flying hairpiece of evil and nurture the good turtle of peace
ABOUT ME
Sometimes bearded, sometimes not. Short in stature. Hybrid accent. Often found sitting, standing or lying down. Alternately very chatty and completely zoned out. Apparently.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Staying with locals is by far and away the most rewarding way to travel. I used this site a lot when I was younger, then I kind of forgot about it for a while. I had thought that after an initial burst of enthusiasm people, and especially hosts might get fatigued before too long, but I'm delighted to find that it's still working for people and I hope this amazing resource continues to be sustainable into the future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Had a group couchsurfing account from travels in Europe with my friend Antonia and we couchsurfed about 10 times there, had some amazing times and met some fantastic people, and have hosted a few folk back here in NZ straight after that. Couchsurfed again a few times while travelling in South America in 2009. Also done plenty of undocumented couchsurfing and hosting - I've almost always lived in large flats with various official and unofficial flatmates.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook and, if you're keen, I'd love to cook for you. Ceviche is my favourite food (also very easy to prepare) but I do a mean curry and risotto too. When it comes to roasts and especially roast spuds and Yorkshire puddings I am a humble student of my dad's. I love to explore different styles and couldn't be happier than learning new dishes from other people.
Otherwise I can tell you a bit about NZ, introduce you to the kind of new form theatre or turn your compost.
And of course always happy to reciprocate and host people not if but when they make it all the way to NZ.
