CURRENT MISSION
Appreciate more, want less.
ABOUT ME
I'm interested in expanding my horizons of experience and understanding. I love that there are 6.6 billion (and counting!) different ways to go about living life and I want to sample as many as I can. A few are already under my belt, and there is plenty of room for more. Sharing good food and music with people is one of my favorite ways of making new connections.
Due to a recent catastrophe in my life, I rearranged my priorities and did quite a bit of soul searching. This led me to a new vocation as a Luthier. We build and repair stringed instruments. To find out more about this, click on the "My Website" link which will take you to my blog.
PHILOSOPHY
Energy moves all by itself. All we have to do is get out of the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was absolutely humbled by the kindness of Santiago and Generra in Costa Rica. My girlfriend knew them and worked for a short time on their finca. They welcomed me into their home with bread and coffee. Santiago proudly showed me his farm and Generra fed me graciously. After dinner and conversation, they let my girlfriend and me share a bed - something that would never happen within their family. Several amazing acts of generosity to a complete stranger in a handful of hours.
Interests
Music! I've played guitar for 25 self-taught years. I love it. Cooking for myself and for friends continues to bring me much joy. I bake bread and it is so much fun! Biking, reading, simplifying life, the paranormal, play time. Naps. Yoga. Letting go. Making up funny voices. Photography. Writing.

Music, Movies, and Books
I get off on musicians who aren't afraid to give their instruments a serious work out, regardless of the genre. Besides hearing virtuosos kicking ass and taking names, I dig deep song writing, sweet vocal harmonies, and music that takes me to someplace new.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I touched the largest living thing on earth, the giant Sequoia known as General Sherman, located in Sequoia National Park, California. I hopped the fence when no one was looking. Shhh. Check my pictures out for a look at it.
I later learned that the single most frequent cause of death for these giants of the Sierra Nevada is toppling. The trees have shallow root systems and sometimes they just fall right over. If everybody in the park was jumping the fence to get a feel of that bark, the soil around those shallow roots would have eroded long ago, putting that tree into the "largest formerly living thing on earth" category. Jumping the fence is selfish and harmful to the trees. Don't do it. Wow, they are huge!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to cut and color hair or bake an awesome loaf of bread. You can teach me new phrases in your native tongue. Let's share some green curry!
