About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to explore the "what are you?" culture of this nation

ABOUT ME

Red Sox cheering, Guiness drinking, occasionally loud talking, showtune/opera/jazz/soul music singing, laugh loving, issue discussing singer/actor/writer who has embarked on a trip I've been meaning to make for years. You can see details at www.singlewhatfemale.blogspot.com

PHILOSOPHY

On my cell phone screen, it reads "Spread the Love" and I do mean that. I do believe that spreading love and positivity is remarkably helpful (particularly in New York) and also can just be very, very fun :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I am merely looking to use the service as I travel, but when I am back from my trip in May, my husband and I will be glad to do the drinks and coffee thing and host. I have heard great things about couch surfing.com and can't wait to be more involved :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have surfed three times now and while each time was brief, each was a great experience (knock on wood!).

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a bit of a music junkie...if it sounds good, I'll listen to it. From Prince to Puccini. Punk and Funk will always be favorites, though :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Besides the traveling I got to do as a kid (thank you mom and dad who thought we ought to see Europe rather than summer camp), I am going to list three of the most amazing things I've done/seen:
*Went to the March for Women's Lives in DC back in 04 with a group of folks I had not previously met but had a great time with. One woman was pregnant at the time and another had had an abortion. They lifted up their shirts and wrote on each other's bellies "My Choice".
*Went to the March for Peace in DC in 05 with my then 70 year old mother who had never been on a march.
*got proposed to at Burning Man 06 at the base of the Man under a starlit sky and over an LED lit playa. The man and I hope to get back there this year :)

Teach, Learn, Share

And the first thing that comes to mind is BREATHE FROM YOUR DIAPHRAGM. I sing and know more about that than anything else, I suppose. I also, will be glad to share any info on Concord and Boston, MA or fun places to see in NYC, I'm your gal. And I can also can talk to you a good bit about music, Revolutionary War and World War II history, (though honestly, my mother has much more info on both of those and can be asked about it all at the Visitors Center in Concord :))
