Music, Movies, and Books
before i list off a bunch of popular culture references i'll try to say what draws me to them... roughly, i like books/films/bands that make me think, and that are genuine in some way. that there is a desire to share ideas (or even just emotions), and that desire overrides the push to sell shit.
here are a few...1984, Brave new world, Freud on humor, crime and punishment, The system, Bliss, Stiffed: the betrayal of modern man, JTHM, Post-consumer waste, Fresh produce, Glittertrash, History of sexuality, Queen psychotic rage, the queer revolutionary disco, high rise, the ethical slut, hard candy, Fucking Amal, But I'm a Cheerleader, look who's morphing now, invisible monsters, Fight club, Ameros perros, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Cecil B Demented, DEVO, The blush foundation, Gogol Bordello, Jack off Jill, the warrior and the princess, tank girl, pipi longstocking, peaches, anti-flag, the cramps, joy division, iggy pop, Dropkick Murphys, The mars volta, the pixies, cindi lauper, reverend beat man, the Tigerlilies, Citizen coup, Mojo juju and the snake oil merchants, Vulgargrad, Ani-Di Franco, Nina Hagen, Susan Vega........
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My father built a sailing boat when I was small and my parents had no money. This was my first home, and we sailed from island to island in the tropics of Australia's east coast until i was 8. This has been the most amazing experience of my life, although at the time I had no idea how important it was.
