ABOUT ME

I travelled a lot when I was younger, all be it with the Royal Navy as at that time foreign travel was really limited to fruit picking in France or working on a kibbutz in Israel, neither of which appealed. I settled own after that and joined the police in the UK where I stayed for nearly 28 years before hanging up my truncheon. Don't be put off, I was one of the nice ones!
I decided to live in Spain while I could still enjoy it and after 15 months I can honestly say it is the best thing I have done, the weather, way of life and people are even better than I expected. I am glad I didn't settle on the Costas.

PHILOSOPHY

Do I have a personal philosophy? Well, I have always liked the philosphy of Thoreau and I quote "Why should we be in such a desperate haste to succeed and in such desperate enterprises? If a man does not keep step with his companions perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away" If you haven't read 'On Walden Pond' try it, persevere and you will be better for it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sorry, I have been limited to my own couch only when I have been locked out of the marital bedroom for some minor, forgotten misdemeanour.

Interests

My interests are ephemeral like the wind. I get interested in something and then get quickly bored but a few of the things I still enjoy are reading, music, gardening, cooking and enjoying the sunshine with a cold glass of beer or wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am an avaricious reader,and will try anything although Sci-Fi, horror and general bad writing leave me cold. My taste in music is just as varied with anything from Baroque, gregorian chant through to jazz, brass bands to blues, rock and most modern music. All I ask is that no one plays any 'rap' in my house!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen things to make your toes curl, or worse so don't ask unless you have a strong constitution. I have aslo seen a UFO, not a close encounter or anything just someting I can't explain.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am embarrassingly without any skills to speak of but you never know what I might be able to pull out of the recesses of my mind. After all after 60 years I must have learnt something, shouldn't I?
