To stop my laundry pile from taking over the world.

ABOUT ME

I work too hard, eat and drink too much, have too many clothes in my wardrobe and too many books on my shelves... I surprised myself (and everyone else) this year by successfully giving up cigarettes. Plenty of bad habits remain. I spend too much money and time enjoying myself, and not enough on housework (see Current Mission).

PHILOSOPHY

If you always keep your feet firmly on the ground, you will have difficulty putting on your trousers.

Interests

Photography, drawing and painting, Scrabble, architecture and history of Palermo, cooking, eating, food in general, defending the much-maligned and misunderstood food of the UK, going to bars and restaurants. I take life very lightly but I do like serious reading: politics, history, economics, science.

Music, Movies, and Books

So many. I will read or watch just about anything, although I have to ration films because once I start watching something, even if it's brain-dead, I can't stop. This is why I have no TV at home. Last film I loved: Der Untergang - all my friends raved about it and would I watch it? no, because it was in German and about Nazis. Then four years later I finally see it and it's brilliant.
