About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To host good music and musicians in New York, and to travel as a musician myself.

ABOUT ME

I'm a composer, singer, arranger, producer, and teacher of music. I tend to be busy, but am up for meeting and networking. Almost always happy to have guests.

PHILOSOPHY

Embrace your shadows. And turn off the damn TV! :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host non-stop, but now I have a roommate and things are a little more complicated. Soon I expect to be hosting again though!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lifechanging. I've met so many wonderful people, both as a host and as a surfer.

Interests

Music, music, music. Movies (with music). The beach, with music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like French cinema, Owen Pallet, Regina Spektor and Radiohead, Nina Simone, Joanna Newsom, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Bach, and oh, so many other musicians and composers. And then I write my own music - check out my website link.

I keep picking up books and never finishing them...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once met an elderly lady at a chamber music recital in Brussels. I was an American kid with just a backpack and little experience outside of the U.S. She shocked me by inviting me to dinner at her apartment, and told me about her extraordinary life - and was a gracious listener about mine. I'll never forget the picture she showed me of herself taken on the day she was released from a concentration camp.

Among the many things I learned from this wonderful woman, she taught me the value of hosting strangers, of taking risks and making friends across boundaries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach music - piano, voice, arranging, and theory. I love learning about anything, really, but if you can teach me about poetry, I'm all ears. I know very little about cooking...if you think you can make me want to learn this skill, that could be fun.
