About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Out to prove that there are more good, friendly, decent people in the world then not. Meet people, connect and ultimately make a difference, hopefully for the better.

I do not respond to all requests as living in the center of Jerusalem, that can get overwhelming. Apologies in advance if you don't get a response - obviously I wasn't able to host.

I do not host single men.

ABOUT ME

Now that my kids are mostly grown, I can't really say that being a parent defines me and I'm currently getting my head about that. I'm still very much involed with these large teenagers that live in my house and call me mom - but it's a different relationship. I try to maintain an open enviornment in my home, and love hosting so that we can all expand our horizons and hopefully make the world a better place. When raising them, and now too, I was focused on trying to influence them to be kinder, gentler and hopefully a wiser type of folk then many of those they meet or read about in the papers. Strong, with an inner sense of calm and good. And ultimately, with a sense of adventure.

I love meeting new people and traveling, learning about new cultures, different customs and societies, with the underlying knowledge that we are all basically the same. I love the CS project because for the most part, I think it's a wonderful way to connect with, in many instances, with like minded wonderful people.

PHILOSOPHY

As I see it the goal of our lives should be to make the world a better place. To do good, and as little harm as we can. To walk gently on the planet, and to take care of each other along the way.

To make the most out of this amazing adventure we call "life"... and to work in order to live... not live to work.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, surfing, meeting people at CS gathering and making connections. As a family we started off hosting and local gatherings, moved on to surfing and now happily do all of the above whenever we have the chance - individually or together. Given the choice of traveling via couch surfing or staying in a hotel, I'll pick couchsurfing every time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm met some incredible people couchsurfing, who have amazingly turned into real true friends. We've truly experienced "playing it forward" with CS, surfing and/or hosting friends of friends via CS and it's been wonderful. We've also managed to come full circle, surfing with people who have surfed with us.

Having re-located recently to another part of the world, I was thrilled to find a good solid CS base, makingme feel like I had a safty net of built in "friends" to fall into and hang out with. Though there have been the occassional odd experience or people that think it's a dating site - overall CS is amazing and has enriched my own life and that of my children. I'm glad they've been molded in their formative years by the CS experience.

As for being out there in the world: given the choice of traveling via couch surfing or staying in a hotel, I'll pick couchsurfing every time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Rock 'n Roll mostly, though I do enjoy jazz, blues, classic and even gregorian chants and medieval tunes on occassion.

Books: Anything but romance novels (unless they are disguised very cleverly as literature)... from "Godel, Escher, Bach" to "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" - from "Hamlet" to "A Song of Ice and Fire".

TV: sometimes, but not too often and not too much.

The list of movies is long and varied but here are a few... and if you come to stay I'll be happy to sit and watch these again with you if I have the time: Blues Brothers, Oh Brother, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Moulin Rouge, Matrix (#1), Lord of the Rings (all), Casablanca, The Commitments, Ran, Silence of the Lambs, Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire), Men in Black, Million Dollar Baby and almost every Disney movie ever made - Beauty and the Beast being my favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Raised 2 amazing human beings, made incredible deep lifelong connections with fellow travelers, went diving in some incredible sites, have witnessed many a breathtaking sunrise.
