About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mission? Oh I wish I was even able to reduce the complexity of my endeavors to one line, or put less fancy; I don't really know what I am doing on this planet, but it sure is entertaining to be here

ABOUT ME

I usually say about myself that my complete lack of ambition is simultainously my biggest strength, and my biggest weakness. Since it means that I find it hard to push myself, but also that I have the freedom to pursue impulses whenever they may arise. I am very curiuos by nature, and therefore i have many different interests. For the time being most of my time goes into studying, working, tending to my garden, climbing and of course hanging out with my friends. While my opinion about this world is that there are many serious issues that needs attention, I try not to be too serious about it all.
And I absolutely love to cook, wherever I go I try to pick up new ideas for recipies and ingredients, and I always try to taste the local food. I also love to share my knowledge about cooking, and to cook for others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to be as open as possible. I always try to understand other people's way of living and their personal beleif while I try to share my own.

Interests

I am completely addicted to physical activity, and over the years I have tried many different sports, to name some I have tried Fencing rowing volleyball swimming martial arts. Right now climbing is the big thing, but i also bike and hike a lot. I generally love to be in nature, so I try to go as often as i can.
I really love games, especially board games, which I play with my lovely roomates.
Recently I have started to spend a lot af time gardening, and I have managed to grow many interesting vegetabels and herbs in my garden.
A new thing that I have picked up recently is collecting food in the wild, ranging from fruits, berries and nuts to herbs, algae and mushrooms. I have also just started experimenting a little with brewing wine and beer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well it changes. I like Fight club, The Matrix, American Beauty, Jim Jarmush Films (especially Dead Man) and Films by David Lynch, just to mention some. I also like documentaries, especially experimental ones.

Music varies a lot. But there are some that have managed to stay with me over the years:
Neil Young, Gorillaz, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Knife(swedish electronical music) Jehtro Tull. For me there is not one particular genre that I enjoy, so I am interested in almost any kind of music.

When it comes to books it also varies a lot.
I used to read a lot of fantasy, I am especially fond of the "The Golden Compass" triology. But ever since I started my university education I have been leaning more towards Philosophical and classical sociological works. Among thinkers I have met thorugh my studies and enjoyed are Gilles Deleuze, Manuel Delanda,Niklas Luhmann, Benedict Anderson, Spinoza, Nietzsche and Jared Diamond.

When It comes to poetry I like William Blake and Whalt Whitman, as well as some of the ancient Daoistic works like "Tao Teh King" and "The Soul and the Buttefly". And generally I am very attracted to mysticism, which I find articulate some of the paradoxes that science struggles with in a very profound and beautiful way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cannot think of just a few things that have been remarkbly different from my life in general. I am more the kind of guy who enjoys the small things. The silence in a forest, the smell after a rainfall, the joy of being helpfull to others. It sounds like clichees, but when I try to do something grand and amazing I always end up feeling that it was not that special after all, and so I have stopped chasing such experiences, since they come to me anyway.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well. I wouldn't say that I am an expert in anything yet. But I know a little bit of everything so to speak. I know about philosophy and humanistic sciences in general. About gardening and cooking. And a bit about martial arts. Since I manage a house of my own I also know a bit a about the pratical stuff involved in that.
