About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to find out what travel is while looking for a nice river to dive into
ABOUT ME
Well I would choose to live on a hill over somewhere flat yet my favourite mode of transport is to ride my bike around a big flat city. I prefer red wine to white wine, yet like summer over winter. Dogs more than cats but am lazy myself. I would rather walk somewhere than run anywhere for example. I like to be in a big bustling city surrounded by people but need to go to the country or I go a bit crazy. So like everyone am full of contradictions it seems.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am pretty new as a couch surfer but so far all my experiences have been very positive. Back in Melbourne my housemate greg has hosted many travellers who I have got to meet too. I am looking foward to meeting more people through couch surfing, both as a surfer and as a host.
Interests
Travel and meeting people. Watching films. Playing soccer in the park (particularly if it is muddy, on a slope, getting dark, I'm holding a beer, not wearing shoes or some combination of the above that contributes to the amateur feeling.) Seeing, hearing and dancing to live music. Bedroom dancing, It is especially wonderful when someone plays the piano in my bedroom that I sadly cannot play. Visiting art galleries on rainy days. Going to visit my parents on the farm where i can maybe pick some fruit, ride a motorbike, go for a walk in the company of four dogs. Cooking for and eating with friends. Thats enough for now...
More things i know i like since i have been in sweden; fika(like a snack of cake and coffee that we seem to have everyday), jumping off rocks into a deep clear lakes, picking bluberries in the dark forest, the kind swedish summer sun that does not burn you up like the mean australian summer sun does...
More things that i know i like since being in germany; eating lots of cheese, warm beer in the park when the sun stays up so long, Berlin, the way germans dance, riding your bike eveywhere without having to wear a helmet, German bread...

Music, Movies, and Books
BOOKS Recently I loved reading 'Anna Karenina' and other books by Russian authors; 'My Childhood' Gorky, 'Lolita' Narbokov, and a book of Russian short stories. Before my russian phase i read a few books by indian writters, 'A fine balance', 'The god of small things' and 'A suitable boy'. Biographies have been another one, they are interesting to me as a way of learning about the different ways people have lived their life one on Goya and another about Goethe were excellent.
MUSIC now i am listening to what ever comes my way, before i left melbourne these bands were getting some playtime Beiruit, Plug in city, Ned Collette, Gillian Welch, Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins(best record cover ever award), Arcade fire, Midlake, Debussy (live on the piano in my room), Balkan beat box, bat for lashes, Croque monsuier (live in our lounge room), Arcitecture in helsinki, cut copy, Nick cave, Brendan Welch, Feist, Leonard cohen, Prince, Talking heads, matmos, the knife, balkan beat box, tv on the radio..
