ABOUT ME

I'm 23 years old, California native who got the itch to travel after graduation high school, but was unable to pluck up the courage to until I graduated college last May. In March my girlfriend and I took off for India and haven't looked back (except sometimes because even when you're in the middle of the Rasthani desert, you still kinda want a pizza). We're traveling around Europe right now, and just finished our first couch surf with the awesome Cesarebbe Family. My girlfriend and I are philosophy majors, so we like to talk. Anyway, we're a friendly, open minded pair who have some pretty good travel stories.

PHILOSOPHY

We should go through life with our eyes and our ears open. We should also travel with a critical mind ready to evaluate, meditate, speculate, and formulate new ways to improve our life. One of the best ways to do this is to meet people and converse. The key is to find the appropriate setting so that everyone is at ease and no one has too personal stake in the outcome of the conversation. After which, one digests what he has learned and hopefully applies it to his life. This exchange of ideas through conversation also happens through reading, both are equally important I think.

To sum up: It is very important to be friendly.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm offering my couch and spreading the word to everyone I meet, when we're done traveling, we'll kick it into high gear.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a complete grom to couchsurfing. My girlfriend and I were on a jeep safari in Gujarat when we heard about the website. In India, we had the best time and ate the best food staying with some friends (and some families of friends) in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, so we figured it would be great to use the website to have some more of those experiences, and then when we got back to states, help fellow travelers in turn. We just got done couch surfing in Rome and it was so cool! I ate some of the best vegetables from their garden and they had good homemade limoncello. Nice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the fall of Junior year of College, I went skydiving. Most people go skydiving as part of a tandem jump and experience the free fall sensation as they are strapped to an experienced skydiver, but they do not pull their own cord. I signed up for the certification class and got to pull my own cord. It's incredibly life affirming to have put yourself in a crisis situation and come out ahead, it's exhilirating when the situation is planned and anticipated.
