About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Just back to living the dream...(Ace!)
ABOUT ME
More reserve than Nevada, humour as arid as the Sahara.
I am the king of the divan.
PHILOSOPHY
Smile
Like you've got nothing to prove
No matter what you might do
There's always someone out there cooler than you
I know that's hard to believe
But there are people you meet
They're into something that is too big to be
Expressed
Through their clothes
And they'll put up with all the poses you throw
And you won't
Even know
That they're not sizing you up
They know your mom fucked you up
Or maybe let you watch too much TV
But they'll still look in your eyes
To find the human inside
You know there's always something in there to see
Beneath
The veneer
Not everybody made the list this year
Have a beer
Make me feel tiny if it makes you feel tall
But there's always someone cooler than you
Yeah, you're the shit
But you won't be it for long
Oh, there's always someone cooler than you
Yeah, there's always someone cooler than you
There's never gonna be a moment of truth for you
While the world is watching
All you need is the thing you forgotten
And that's to learn to live with what you are
I see that there is evil
and I know that there is good
and the in-betweens I never understood
won't you look at me, I'm crazy,
but I get the job done
yeah, I'm crazy, but I get the job done
and I say:
go ahead you can laugh all you want
but I got my philosophy
[keeps my feet on the ground]
and I trust it like the ground
that's why my philosophy
it keeps me walking when I'm falling down.
Thanks to my namesake Mr Folds for that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been sleeping on and off for the past 30 years or so. Some of this has been on sofas/couches. Noticeably recently. Armchairs too. Even a park bench in Scarborough, Ontario, although I did spend part of that night in Dunkin Donuts...
Interests
Sabrage - far too addictive.
- beer
- walking
- clothing
- tv
Music, Movies, and Books
Dave Eggers' A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius should tell you a lot about the sort of person I am. I've never laughed out loud so much at the recounting of personal tragedy. If you think that makes me sound callous, read it. If you like the sound of me anyway, read it. If you've read it and STILL think I'm callous, we're probably not compatible and you probably aren't wanting to use my couch anyway...
I've developed a soft spot for Josh Rouse and recent downloads include Vampire Weekend and Laura Marling, but pretty much anything goes. Plastic Bertrand is current flavour of the month and MGMT's Time to Pretend is up there. Try me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've cheated death and boy, was he pissed...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm good with eggs.
