ABOUT ME

Sheila was born in Costa Rica (hence her name actually being CHAAAAYLA) in a shroud of mystery. Apart from a string of strange events, a man watching her eat mangoes, a hold-up gone wrong, a cousin with a strong affinity with a duck, and her direct relations to Juan SantaMaria, there is not much known of her youth. Moving to Rhode Island at the impressionable age of 8, Sheila's life long passion of dance found its foothold. After a brief introduction to Michael Jackson, Sheila starred in the 'Childhood' video, as MJ fastidiously employed different 'colours and breeds' of children from all over the world. (She is in the boat directly behind Jason James Richter, the child star of the Free Willy films. They did not get along). Michael took a liking to her and taught her his famous 'moonwalk' during a tea break on set. A brief courtship with an Indian professor at the age of 15 introduced her to bollywood, and from there a passion for this style of performance was born. Sheila moved into the music scene of Providence and after a few relationships with some troubled singers, moved to Hampshire College in Massachusetts to settle. Followed by a gun toting ex boyfriend, Sheila learned the Panther Dance, a Burmese Bando with swords, and fended him off back to Providence with a restraining order and a broken arm. In the past four years, she has had a brief flirtation with the IRA, marriage, motherhood, homelessness, billionaires, terrorism, the law, Europe and 'performance art' but none of them stuck and she is travelling around the United States, collecting dance techniques for her world famous 12 hour dance.

Amber Knowles was born as the result of a renaissance moment between god and a now non-virgin Mary in heaven. However due to heaven’€™s one child policy and god€™s desire for a second son (after the disappointment of the meek first born) Amber was given over to the earth. While she is very evolved for someone who by necessity cannot believe in evolution, she still struggles with her own immortality. Amber’s divine status has been apparent in several ”miracle”€™ aspects of her “€˜human life “€™, such as her ability to fail at a “no grades”€™ seemingly unfailable college and her survival through a childhood littered with figurative and literal minefields. She inherited from God: his love of all creatures, his vengeful wrath, solid facial hair and tendency to procrastinate (need he have waited to create earth until the seven days before it was due?). While her vegetarianism has weakened her powers to the point of being unrecognizable as a god, she has still exceeded low expectations especially when it comes to dance, fertility and paddle-ball. On earth she was raised an only child (give or take a few forgettable siblings) and sought to gain a family through her coterie of pets. She currently works as a fluffer in Spain and will surely perish without the companionship of her dog Tula (who needs to be rescued from the squalor of Marthas€™s Vineyard)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been nomads for quite sometime, collecting stories, meeting the mildly demented and slightly magical, video taping and snapping pictures. We have stayed with a lovely gentlemen in Madrid, but apart from that, we have been relying on our charm and street smarts to inveigle our ways to the hearts of the generous souls which have let us into their homes. We look forward to experimenting with couch surfing.
